Being relatively quiet, which was strange when it came to Stevie, she picked at her food on her plate as everyone else around her laughed and shared stories of funny things that happened while on tour. Christine nudged her a few times to get her to laugh along to not look as if she was a lump on a log but most of the time she didn't even laugh, just stared at her as if she was confused.
Lindsey sat across the table with his wife, holding hands and listening to the stories Mick was sharing, he had a BIG mouth and loved the attention. It was upsetting Stevie to see him so happy with another woman when she could have been her.
All she could do was think about how she was going to tell him, tell Lindsey that he was the father of her 30 year old daughter, but where could she possibly do this? She definitely couldn't tell him here, not at Mick's party, and not in his own room as Kristen was here with him. Stevie thought maybe a letter but that wasn't her style, she was a face to face person - especially with something like this.
As everyone began to leave, Stevie tried to be as peppy as she could be, hugging everyone and thanking them for all the help they gave through out the many legs of the tour. If it wasn't for the roadies then nothing would get done, they couldn't do it all by themselves.
Heading back to her hotel suite before the show, Stevie saw that she had a blinking light on her cell phone. Man, she really needed to learn to carry this contraption with her! Unlocking it, she saw that there was a voice message and a missed call from no one other than, Isabelle. She felt her heart skip and a smile went across her frowning lips as she pressed the phone to her ear, listening to the voice mail.
"Hey, mom! I thought about you today as there was a small news segment about the end of the tour. I really hope that you are well as it said you mentioned having a bone spur in your foot and that you would prefer not wearing those boots anymore. Those boots look fantastic on you and I would hate to see you in anything other than boots! But you're a Queen and deserve to wear and do whatever you please. I really love you a lot and also wanted to know if you were able to talk to...dad? It feels crazy calling him, dad, when he doesn't even know who I am. Anyway, please call me when you can - as I know you're very busy but I think about you all the time and can't wait to see you again. Love you."
Tears rolled down Stevie's cheeks as she heard the voice of her only child, gripping on to the phone as she still hadn't told Lindsey he was her father. She promised Isabelle that it would happen before the end of this tour and it still was not out in the open!
Wiping her tears, Stevie called Isabelle back and was overjoyed once she heard her voice again.
"Mom!" Isabelle answered, "You called me back! Usually it takes forever!"
"Hey, baby, I just got your message! I was out at lunch with the band and roadies, it was Mick's idea."
"You almost sound as if it was an inconvenience to go."
"Well, you know me - I am not a morning person."
"You had lunch in the morning?"
"No," Stevie chuckled, "I had to get up a few hours earlier though before the afternoon hit...you know what I mean."
Isabelle just laughed, her mother was more than she could have ever dreamed, "You're too funny. I absolutely adore you, mama."
"I miss you, angel girl, think about you everyday."
"Did you talk to him?"
Silence
"I assume that means that you haven't..." Isabelle's voice trailed.
