As I made my way inside, I could feel either the envious or lust filled looks from people around me. I checked myself out on the glass before entering the music blaring building. The lighting was quite dim and many people had already shown up. I quickly spotted the big, puffy, pink dress girl and walked to her. Her dress had many pastel colors but the main one was pink. The theme for this party was Mardi Gras so all the guests wore masks.
"Wow, what a party."
She turned around and her smile grew, "Thanks for showing up!" Before I knew it, two arms were around my neck, squeezing and pulling me closer to their body.
"I wouldn't miss this for the world," I lied.
"Don't lie to me," She held me at arms length. I could tell she was admiring me in the way you admire a model because of her looks.
"It's okay, you'll be okay," I didn't pull away nor did she, "you look gorgeous tonight by the way."
"Do I really? I still feel eh about how I look."
"Jacqueline, you look perfect tonight. This is your night. The stars are aligned for you tonight baby. All eyes on you," The thing about being around Geoffrey so much is that you're with him when he's writing his songs hence you're vulnerable to say some dumb and cliché shit.
"Thanks for the pretty words but look at you. You're gonna steal the spotlight!"
"I doubt it. You're the princess tonight," I pulled her in for one more hug before turning and looking for my family.
"ALEX ALEX!" I heard a familiar voice rushing towards me. I turned and I could make out Marisol behind a mask running towards me with a gold dress on and black heels.
"Marisol!"
"I'm so happy to finally see you!" Her embrace was very much missed by me.
"I missed you too," I let her go and looked around for anyone who I recognized.
"LETS go over here!" Marisol grabbed my hand and pulled me to her table. The tables all had a pink cover with mostly yellow decor. A blue vase had a dozen roses placed in the center of the table all different colors. I took a seat next to Marisol
"Alex, I've missed you a lot actually. It feels weird living alone with no one constantly up your ass, ya know?" She cracked a smile and I rolled my eyes at her.
"I've been great since school ended thank you very much," I smiled and turned to look for faces I knew. The place was too crowded, everyone wore a mask, and the lighting wasn't helping either so I gave up and turned back around.
"So where were you? Royce called me like fifty times asking me if I knew anything about you and fifty times I told him no."
"I was in some other part of the planet. Geoffrey is such a pain, I don't know why I haven't left him."
"Riiiiiiiight. Well, glad you're back," A waitress came by to bring us food. We ate and made conversation until I spotted my mom in a lovely long pink dress, a much darker shade than Jackie's dress, with her baby bump on display.
"Hey you pretty young thang!" I tapped her shoulder, startling her. She gave me a glare before shaking her head with a tired smile.
"Now you appear, huh?" Her hands rested on the bump but her eyes rested on mine.
"Well, I'm here, right?"
"True," She pulled me in for a hug but it was uncomfortable because the bump was in the way.
"Are you almost due because this bump makes me uncomfortable."
"Any minute now," She smiled and I quickly pulled away, scared, "In another month," My hands were pulled back to my chest and I managed to crack a smile after I realized she was joking.
