DISCLAIMER: SOME DIALOGUE IS TAKEN FROM OOTP AND BELONGS TO JK ROWLING
"Lily! Lily please wake up!"
Blinking in the darkness, I squint at the figure looking a lot like Ginny Weasley.
"Lily, come on," she whispers urgently and my eyes fly open. Wide awake, I rub my eyes and look around the room. It must either be really late or early in the morning.
"What's going on?" I mumble in a low voice as Hermione tosses in the bed opposite us.
"I- It's my father, Harry h-" she chokes out, tears springing in her eyes and I immediately grab her arm. I've never seen her look so scared and just the expression on her face makes my stomach turn.
"What's going on?" I ask in a more serious voice, all signs of fatigue vanishing. She shakes her head wordlessly and leads me out of the common room.
"We have to go," she says, wiping the tears from her face. Without needing anymore explanations, I grab my nightgown and follow her out of the common room. Together we run down the corridors of the sleeping castle, Ginny's hand holding my own so tightly, I'm sure the blood circulation has been cut off. The directions seem vaguely familiar, but I still find myself surprised as we end up at Dumbledore's office.
"F-fizzing whizbee," Ginny stutters and we ascend up to the office. Inside, stand all the Weasleys, Harry and Professor McGonagall. No one utters a word as I join the crowd. My hand does not leave Ginny's as her gaze hardens. I try to meet George's eyes but he doesn't look up from staring at the fire. His face is distraught. My heart rate quickens as I glance around at everyone's face.
"Ah, Miss Argent." Dumbledore says, peering at me over his spectacles. George looks up as if he just realised I had entered the room, his expression unreadable.
"Mr. Weasley has been gravely hurt whilst on Order business. I think you should join Mr Potter and the rest of the Weasley family at Grimmauld Palace - for your safety." Dumbledore explains, as everyone frowns at me. None of what he said makes any sense to me, but the idea of leaving the castle without informing my guardian does not sit well with me.
"I think I should speak to Professor Snape firs-" I start but Dumbledore raises a hand to stop me.
"I'll inform him tomorrow morning. He'll probably come there to explain your arrangements for after the holidays," Dumbledore says vaguely. My ears ring with my guardian's admission about how my safety was now in question. The whole idea of changing my current lifestyle makes me anxious. My time with everyone is more limited than I previously thought. The thought makes my stomach churn even more. I still feel extremely uneasy about the whole idea, but with all the Weasleys looking like Death themselves, I was not about to argue.
The next few minutes seem like a blur and suddenly I'm at Grimmauld Palace. An unshaven man meets us all and offers a hand to help me up, but I decline and stand up myself. I see a ghost of a smile on George's face. The unshaven man gives me a strange look but I feel like I had imagined it when he turns to everyone else.
"Phineas Nigellus said Arthur's been badly injured," he man says to the rest of the guys.
"Ask Harry," Fred says tiredly.
"Yeah I want to hear this for myself," George adds as both twins and Ginny stare at him. I feel slightly bad for Harry as he recounts his story of how he saw Arthur get attacked by a snake.
"We have to go to St. Mungo's," Ginny says urgently but then stares at her pyjamas and looks to the unshaven man, "Sirius can you led us coats or anything?"
