ADELE

It's been a couple of days since me and Rich confessed our love and honestly, I couldn't be happier. I'm meeting Laura and Jed today because they've been so out of the loop recently. I haven't spent as much time as usual with them because I've been focusing on Rich. However, today's the day where they get my full, undivided attention.

Soon enough, they arrive, both holding a bottle of wine in each of their hands. I have great friends.

"Alright, babe? We have more than a bit of catching up to do." Laura delivers. She's always been very confident and outgoing. A great soul to be around.

Jed on the other hand, can be a bit more reserved. That's not to say that he's not confident either because he certainly is. He just takes longer to warm up.

"We're getting fucked tonight." Jed promises. If you say so.

"Plus, I have a lot to fill you in on." The pair of them just share a devious look between them. They both rush into the kitchen like a pair of excited children. Scrambling to pour the drinks.

"Spill. Now." Laura orders.

"You may, or may not be looking at a taken woman." I shrug, sipping my wine.

"Fuck off." They both say in unison, causing me to laugh. Their jaws hang wide open, as if they've seen a ghost.

"Who?" Jed asks. I recall the fact that I haven't seen him in ages.

"Jed, don't be thick. Rich, obviously." Laura states, as if it was common knowledge.

"I mean I thought it was just sex between you two. From what I'd seen anyway." Laura knows the comment is going to embarrass me. Jed looks between us, trying to find the silver lining.

"I'm lost." He announces.

"Well, you see. I had first witnessed her almost get fingered on her couch, which I thought could've been the worst of it. Then, I find myself walking in on them fucking each other. I thought I'd have to bleach my eyes after that." She says it all quite casually.

"My god, Adele. I didn't know you were getting down like that." He laughs.

"I'm not some porn star, it's just unfortunate that Laura had to come in at the wrong times." I giggle, trying to hide my bashfulness.

Truth be told, there could've been worst situations. Me and Laura have been best friends for years, she's seen far worse. It's just that hearing it out loud is awful.

"I know, babe. Just trying to torment you, that's all." He sips his wine. "Anyway, is that all between you two?" A curiosity stricken look plants itself across his face. Fuck it, I'll tell them.

"We said I love you." The words feel so right as they fall off of my tongue. I have a genuine love for the man, it's so sacred.

Their eyes glare at me with a glimpse of pure shock. Laura's jaw hangs wide open as she registers my words.

"Someone's moving fast." Jed says, his tone disapproving. I mean, he's had a drink but aren't friends meant to be supportive?

"What are you trying to say? I'm 36, Jed. I'm perfectly aware of what I'm doing, thanks babe." Maybe I'm being petty but no one is to disrespect me like that.

"Calm it down, Adele. I support everything you do but I'm just saying, I wouldn't be moving this fast if I were you." He looks down, ashamed of how his words came out. I can't exactly blame him, he's had a bit to drink.

"Good thing you aren't me then." We leave the disagreement at that. To save us from an awkward silence, a knock at the door is heard throughout the house.

"I'll go get it." I announce. The pair make small talk between them as I go to see who's at the door.

"Hi, baby." It's Rich. Maybe I should just introduce him to my friends now, no time like the present.

"My friends are here, do you want to meet them?" I ask. Maybe I could've been politer and given him a greeting but here we are.

"Go on then." He says with a smile. I squeal before dragging him into the kitchen.

"Alright you two, meet Rich." I smile.

"We've both met him." Jed states.

"Actually, I haven't. I've just seen him shag her." Laura replies. I can't help but laugh at her comment. She always comes out with the most outrageous statements.

"Yeah, sorry you had to see that." Rich brushes it off, casually.

"No worries. You seem to know how to work your magic though, after hearing Adele screaming." I slap her arm, my face turning beet red.

"Tell me about it." He says, sarcastically. God, please humble this man.

"Seems like you need your ego managing." I state.

"It does seem that way, doesn't it?" He causes Laura and Jed to both burst out laughing. That's when I realise what a dirty joke he just made. I simply roll my eyes, not wanting to entertain his stupidity anymore. Though, it was funny.

"You got yourself a good one, Adele." Laura is still laughing. This is going to be a long night.
