Izuku stared at the light of his computer without seeing the text on it. He squinted a bit, adjusted his glasses, read the same paragraph again without quite grasping its meaning. For like, oh y'know, the Thirtieth Freakin' Time.

He grumbled incoherently and spun his office chair around like a child. He stopped, facing the computer screen again with a new stroke of determination to finish reading his student's essay- then promptly gave up when he had to search up the meaning of superimposed.

"I need a break," He grumbled, pushing himself out of his chair only to walk in a small circle. He paced back and forth a few times, stared at the glowing screen of his computer from across the room, and decided, "Fuck this, I'm gonna go get a donut."

And one donut became two, then he got thirsty so he got some cheap beer, then he got kinda sad and lonely so he started sobbing on the kitchen floor.

You know, like a functioning adult human being.

And when he ran out of beer, he reached for the bourbon Kacchan had gotten him for his housewarming last week and that reminded him of Kacchan. And that made him sadder. Because where the hell is Kacchan? Shouldn't he be here with Izuku at his literal lowest? And, wow, that's a really selfish thought. But he really misses Kacchan, and the universe seems to hate him, he decides, since everything reminds him of Kacchan all of a sudden.

So he did what any sensible adult human being would do, he called Kacchan.

At Ass-o-Clock in the morning.

No seriously, what time is it??

(it was three fifteen in the morning, in case you were wondering)

Izuku muttered and sniffled into the phone as he rung Katsuki, the kitchen only illuminated by the soft blue light of the open fridge and the burning white of Izuku's phone. When Katsuki picked up, because of course he did, Izuku started hiccuping with a fresh wave of tears.

It was dark on Katsuki's end, and you'd only be able to barely discern his blonde hair and one tired carmine eye still squinting against the sudden light of his phone.

"Izuku?" He asked, voice gravelly and husky from sleep, "Whas wrong?"

Izuku cried a little harder as Katsuki sat up in bed, worry replacing sleep as his brain processed the fact that Izuku was surrounded by empty bottles of beer and had called Katsuki in the middle of the night crying his pretty viridian eyes out.

"'Zuku? What's up?" He asked genuinely.

Izuku sniffled, "Nothing- I jus'" He sobbed a little as Katsuki's brows furrowed, "I jus' missed you."

Kacchan blinked, then laughed a little, shaking his pretty blond head. "Izuku, are you drunk?"

Izuku blinked, "I dunno," he only then noticed that his voice was heavy with tears and that he desperately craved a drink. His throat was dry.

(Kacchan is so pretty)

"Do you need me to come over?" Kacchan asked, already throwing his blanket off his body and making his way out of bed.

Izuku shook his head adamantly, "No! 'm fine. Just missed you. A bit. Maybe."

Katsuki's chuckle drove away the cold jitters from before, a bit too well considering it now felt like his beer had transformed into lava in his stomach.

"I love you," Izuku whispers into the quiet of his kitchen. He watches Katsuki freeze on their video call, watches him shake his blonde head firmly and the quiet sadness in his eyes when he says, "No you don't."

Izuku's tears slow down and a familiar urge to make Katsuki believe that, no, I do love you.

"I do," Izuku insists, "I love you. I love you. I love youuu"

"Izuku..." Kacchan whispers, as if Izuku's drunken words caused him real physical pain.

"Kacchan." Izuku mirrors back, refusing to back down.

Katsuki groaned softly, half-joking and half-pained. He mumbles, "I'm cutting the call, alright? I'll be over in a few minutes."

Before Izuku can protest, his phone goes dark, leaving him staring at a darker yet equally pathetic version of himself.

Man, he misses Kacchan.
