FIRST’S POV

Ja was still holding me close, his breath brushing against my neck.
“You’re too cute, kitten,” he whispered, making my heart skip several beats.

I hid my face in his chest, trying to calm my racing heart. His warmth felt comforting — almost dangerous. The room was quiet, only our heartbeats echoing softly between us.

He looked down at me again, his eyes softer this time. “You know… I’ve wanted to do that for a long time.”
My cheeks burned. “Y-you have?”

Ja chuckled lightly, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. “Yeah. But I didn’t want to scare you off.”

Before I could respond, someone knocked on the door — just once. Both of us froze.
He leaned closer, his lips brushing my ear. “Ignore it.”
I nodded, smiling shyly.

He kissed my forehead softly, and I thought to myself, If this is what having a mate feels like, then I don’t ever want to let him go.

RAIN’S POV

Sky and I had been searching for Phayu for a while now, but there was still no sign of him. The party was loud — music, laughter, and the smell of alcohol filling the air.

“Let’s split up,” Sky said. “I’ll check the back. You take upstairs.”
I nodded and walked toward the staircase, my heart oddly nervous.

Where could he be? I wondered.

As I walked down the hallway, I heard soft voices coming from one of the rooms. I stepped closer — maybe it was Phayu. The door was slightly open.

When I peeked inside, my heart stopped.

There he was.
Phayu.

But he wasn’t alone.

He was kissing someone — a girl. Her arms were around his neck, and he was holding her waist tightly, the same way I had secretly imagined him holding me.

For a moment, everything around me went silent.

The music, the lights, the laughter — all gone.

It felt like the world froze, leaving only me and the sight of him with someone else.

I didn’t even realize tears had started forming in my eyes until I blinked, and they rolled down my cheeks.

Why does it hurt so much?

I turned around quickly, not wanting to see more. My heart felt heavy — confused, broken. I ran down the stairs, out to the backyard, trying to breathe.

“Rain!” I heard Sky call from somewhere behind me, but I didn’t stop.
I just wanted to get away.

Away from the noise.
Away from the pain.
Away from him.
