Tony's fingers drummed the large council table as he barely listened to one of the Council members drone on. His husband, Logan, was sitting in the chair beside him— arms crossed over his chest, glaring out the large windows to the side. As Kings, they understood that meetings like this were required. Never meant that they had to enjoy them.

"Your Majesties, I do think that we—"

"I think we're done here," Tony cut the man off, sitting up straighter.

Chancellor Pierce, head of the Council and highest advisor to the Kings, sighed. "Your Majesty, though I understand why you are done as Lord Call here hasn't gotten to his point."

"Chancellor, I—"

"Enough," Pierce cut Call off. Pierce focused on the Kings. "There is one last matter the Council would like to bring up to you both."

"That's never comforting," Logan muttered.

"It is the matter of succession."

Both the Kings sat up straighter, defensive already.

"As you both are Kings, there is no way to create an heir. The Council has looked through the laws and have found two options. The first, King Anthony, as King by blood, could take a wife alone. The wife could be Queen or could be kept out of Royal duties and bare heirs."

Tony laughed. "You want me to take a wife, without my husband, and then proceed to hide her? And what? Only use her when I feel like it?"

"That is not our favorite option, My King," Pierce retorted.

"Then, please, tell me better." Tony motioned for him to continue.

"The second option would be for both of you to take the same wife. Preferably, one of noble blood. This way the marriage is united— two Kings, one Queen."

"You think a woman would marry both of us?" Logan questioned.

"I think, Your Majesty, you do not understand what a woman would do to be Queen."

"Just to appease you," Tony leaned over the table slightly, "how do you think we find this woman?"

"We have multiple options, Your Majesty. We could set it up for Royal and Noble Families with eligible daughters to visit for a week at a time. But we were thinking we could do that, after we have a Royal Ball."

"A ball?" Logan scoffed.

"The kingdom has not had a ball in a very long time, Your Majesties. We think it would bring the kingdom together and allow us to narrow down the marriage prospects before inviting them for a visit."

Tony chuckled, shaking his head with a roll of his eyes. "And what if we disagree with these options and are not interested in finding a wife?"

"The ball will happen anyway and instead of the Kings making the decision on the marriage prospects, the Council will do it for you."

"You cannot be serious," said Logan.

"Very, Your Majesty."

Tony moved his jaw around as he thought through his options. Hosting a ball would give him and Logan time to figure out a way out of this. "Fine. We will have a ball."

"What?" Logan questioned, head snapping in his husband's direction.

"We will host a ball. Here. At the castle."

Pierce smiled. "Of course, Your Majesty. We will have invitations sent out to all the kingdoms and noblehouses with eligible daughters imm—"

"No."
