Sasuke's POV

Smoke still lingered in the air, mixing with the scent of burnt earth as I locked eyes with Deidara. My Sharingan tracked every slight movement of his body, every shift in his expression. His smug grin, the way he hovered on that damn clay bird-he was taunting me.

"You know, Sasuke," Deidara called out, amusement dripping from his tone, "the Akatsuki doesn't just want you, hmm."

I didn't react. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

"We've got our eyes on another prize."

My grip on my sword tightened, but I remained silent, waiting.

Deidara chuckled. "That girl-(Y/n)."

My heart lurched.

"We've heard all about her," he continued, his voice far too casual for my liking. "Her abilities, her influence over you and that little jinchūriki friend of yours. But more than that-" He whistled lowly. "She's quite the looker, hmm. I can see why people want her."

A sharp pulse of rage surged through my body, hot and suffocating.

"You're after her?" My voice came out quieter than I expected.

Deidara tilted his head, feigning innocence. "Who wouldn't be? Beautiful, talented, strong... she'd be wasted staying with Konoha, don't you think?"

Something inside me snapped.

I was already moving before I had fully processed it, my body acting on sheer instinct. My blade slashed through the air, and Deidara barely evaded it, leaping back onto his bird.

"Oi, oi-what's with this reaction, hmm?!" he laughed, though there was a slight edge of unease in his voice.

I didn't answer.

I couldn't.

All I saw was red.

The thought of Deidara-of anyone-seeing (Y/n) that way. Thinking of her as a prize. Wanting to take her.

No.

No one would touch her.

Especially not him.

I lunged again, my speed doubling, every strike fueled by the image of his disgusting smirk, by the venom in his words. Deidara was a fool if he thought I would let him-or anyone-get near her.

If I had to destroy him to make sure of it, then so be it.

(Y/n)'s POV

The explosion was blinding.

A flash of light engulfed the horizon, followed by a deafening shockwave that sent ripples through the air. I shielded my eyes with my arm, feeling the force even from this distance. My heart clenched as I watched the massive plume of smoke curl into the sky. It was impossible to ignore the weight in my chest, the unshakable feeling that Sasuke had been caught in whatever just happened.

The Eight Man Squad had already sprung into action. Kakashi-sensei's voice rang out, sharp and focused. "We're heading toward the blast site. Stay alert."

I nodded silently, my legs already moving before my mind could process the command. Beside me, Naruto clenched his fists, his face a mixture of worry and determination. He didn't need to say anything-I knew exactly what he was thinking.

As we raced forward, the air grew thick with the scent of scorched earth. The ninja hounds picked up the trail, leading us to the edge of a massive crater, its sheer size overwhelming. My stomach twisted as I took in the destruction. Deidara. It had to be him.
