The warmth of my ginger tea seeped into my palms as I leaned back against the wooden bench outside Konoha Hospital. The afternoon sun was gentle, a welcome change from the usual scorching heat. It was rare for me to get a break, and I intended to enjoy every second of it.
That was until a very familiar and very loud voice shattered the peace.
“(Y/N)-CHAN!!”
“AH—” I nearly dropped my cup as Naruto popped out of nowhere, grinning like a madman. I clutched my chest dramatically. “Damn it, Naruto! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!”
“Heh, my bad, my bad,” he chuckled, plopping down beside me. “But I knew I’d find you here. You always drink that weird spicy tea after work.”
“It’s ginger tea, you gremlin,” I scoffed, taking a sip. “It helps with fatigue.”
Naruto scrunched his nose. “Bleh, sounds gross.”
I rolled my eyes. “Alright, idiot. What brings you here? You don’t usually visit me unless you’re dragging me into something.”
His grin widened. “You got me! So, here’s the thing—I need a new team, and I want you to team up with me!”
I blinked. “Huh?”
“C’mon, you’d be perfect! You’re strong, smart, and I already know you can handle my energy. We’d make an unstoppable duo!” He pumped his fist excitedly.
I smiled at his enthusiasm but shook my head. “As much as I’d love to, you do realize I’m already in Team Gai, right?”
Naruto groaned, dramatically flopping against the bench. “Ughhh, why does everyone have a team already?!”
I chuckled, patting his shoulder. “Tell you what—I’ll help you find some teammates. How’s that sound?”
His blue eyes brightened. “For real?! That’d be awesome!”
“Of course.” I finished my tea and stretched. “Alright, let’s go find your dream team, Naruto Uzumaki.”
We strolled through the village, brainstorming potential teammates while chatting about anything and everything.
“So, how’s the Hokage training going?” I asked.
Naruto grinned proudly. “Tsunade-baachan’s been giving me extra lessons! She says I need to be more ‘refined’ if I wanna be Hokage.”
I smirked. “Refined? You? That’s like telling Lee to sit still.”
“Oi!” He pouted. “I can be refined if I wanna be!”
I snorted. “Sure, Naruto. I’ll believe it when I see it.”
He crossed his arms. “Hmph. What about you? You’re always working at the hospital. When do you even get time to train?”
I shrugged. “I squeeze it in when I can. Gai-sensei makes sure of that.”
Naruto laughed. “Bet he makes you do laps around the village.”
“Try five laps before sunrise.”
He winced. “Yikes.”
As we strolled through the village, Naruto began listing his criteria for a new teammate.
“They have to be strong, a good friend, and not too attractive.”
I gave him a look. “Not too attractive?”
Naruto nodded sagely. “Yeah! Otherwise, Sakura might get distracted!”
I snorted. “And by ‘distracted,’ you mean jealous because you’ll end up giving them more attention than her?”
