Chapter 12

I stare at Alexis as she glares back at me.

"Erm, what?"

I don't say anything, I just look down at my black Converse high tops, biting my lip. Rose was ignorant to her, too? In fact, I've seen her be mean to other selfless middle-schoolers my age, but-

My train of thought is suddenly interrupted by Alexis.

"Well. I better get going now, want to walk home with me after school?"

I whip my head up so fast at her that she starts laughing uncontrollably. "And...oh...I've never...it shot up..." she gasps in between laughs. I felt as if I had gotten whiplash.

"Oh, shut up."

"Where do you live?" I ask Alexis as we walk down the hallway. I had decided not to take the bus today and just talk with Alexis on the way to our houses.

"Just down the street, take a right, enter my neighborhood, and it's a blue house in the front with two palm trees in the front. Yours?"

"Down the street, take a left, go straight, take a right, then-"

"How about we just go to my house first?" Alexis chimes in, clearly knowing her house would be closer. "Good idea," I reply, nodding and grinning at the same time.

"So..." She says after a few minutes of me getting some things from my locker, not dropping anything this time. I close my locker and turn around to face her.

Once again, we find ourselves staring at each other, awkwardly, with nothing to say. A boy comes out of nowhere and says, "Hi... I know this is weird, but do you know where the office is? I'm late for my bus and it's just my second day here."

Me and Alexis glance at him, then back to ourselves, then back at him. "Sure," I say. "Follow me."

I lead him to the office. "Thanks," he shyly says, heading towards the door. "You're welcome, if you need anything else, I'm Clementine Parks," I inform the newbie, smiling.

"Um. Well... alright then, I'm Will. See you around, I guess." He smiles and his eyes shine the brightest blue I had ever seen. His hair is a dark brown and he has freckles on his cheeks, making his smile seem even more cute than he already is.

Wait, what? What am I thinking? I already like Oliver- no, no, no, that doesn't mean I liked Will at first sight! Ugh, I can't just like someone else, and even if I did, I don't even know how I'd handle it, and it would be-

Again, I snap back to real life, and Will is staring at me like I'm some sort of crazy monster that just climbed out of the sewers. "Err, sorry... I have to go, bye..." I quickly say, fast-walking towards my locker, away from Will.

I feel a pang of anger and guilt come across me, saying that I shouldn't of just started daydreaming and then left him, but I attempt to ignore it.

As I reach Alexis, she asks, "What took ya so long?"

"Err..."

"Oh. Never mind."

"What?"

Alexis does an annoying eyebrow dance. "Oh my gosh, Lexi! No. Just no, all I did was... well..."

Again, her eyebrows move up and down, up and down, until I whisper shout, "Grr, no way would I randomly just-"

"Haha, okay, fine. But really, wasn't he cute for a new boy?" She questions. Of course he is, duh. "Kind of," I reply. She blinks at me. "Well... let's get going now."

We walk to the two double doors that lead to the outside of the school, and open them. "I can't believe he's new."

"Who is?"

"That kid you took to the office."

"Oh, his name is Will, and yeah, I agree with you. If girls seem to like Oliver, they'll definitely like him. Plus, he seems like a nice guy."

"Mmhmm."

"Well, what kinds of things did Rose do to you? She's not the brightest lightbulb in the box, you know."

"Erm, I don't know if I should tell you that."

"Please? I'll tell you what she's done to me if you tell me."

"Fine. When we were younger... we were in 1st grade together. I'd always wear some sort of headband, and Rose would usually try to take it. She would just beg and beg for me to give her just one headband to 'borrow' and so one day, I finally gave in and let her use a headband with a pink flower attached to it.

"As soon as I gave it to her, I told her that she would have to give it back to me the next day. She said that she would, and we went back to our seats."

"So this is all about a headband?" I ask, one eyebrow arched. "No, no, there's more, now don't interrupt."

We take a right and she goes on with the story. "In the middle of math, she nudged me from behind and I glared at her to find a headband snapped right in half. Of course since I was a first-grader and the headband was a birthday present I started crying. My teacher sent me to the office in front of everyone. It was humiliating, ugh."

"It's just a headband, you know..."

"Exactly, I was in the first grade, remember that," she snaps. "Jeez," I say.

We enter into her neighborhood. "So in the past few days Rose has been mean to me, calling me names and making fun of me."

"Well then, we'll have to talk later, your house is right there," I say, pointing at her house. "Bye."

"See you later," she replies, handing me a piece of paper with her phone number on it.

I arrive at my house and go up to my room. Thank god it's Friday, I'm so ready for the weekend. I do my boring weekend homework for twenty minutes when my mom comes in the room.

"Honey, there's someone on the phone for you."

I take the phone and answer it.

"Hello?"

"It's me."

"Err..."

"Oliver."

"Okay, well, what do you want?"

"I'm sorry."

"No, you're not. You just followed Rose and betrayed me as your friend. Real friends don't backfire and then just come crawling back to say a simple 'sorry'. I don't forgive you now, yet I may later, and what you did was unforgettable."

I hang up and immediately regret everything I said.

A/N: Hey everybody, here's your new chapter for Girl X Drama! What do you think about Will? I just had to put a new character in the book, it made it more "interesting." *does an eyebrow dance* But really, let me know your opinion in the comments section and any suggestions I should do for the next chapter.
