I hope he stubs his toe on every piece of furniture he owns.

I hope his favorite pen leaks all over that overpriced shirt.

I hope his day goes so terribly that even karma takes notes.

Because Mahir Oberoi—grumpy, insufferable, smug asshole—deserves nothing less after ruining my favourite novel this morning. And for what? Because he felt like it? Unbelievable.

I march into the office, still fuming, a cup of his usual black coffee in hand. Because apparently, even when I hate him, I'm considerate.

When I push open the door to his office, there he is—looking like the picture of corporate perfection. Not a single hair out of place, tie straight, and posture so annoyingly composed you'd think he hadn't spent half the night destroying my will to live.

I slam the coffee down on his desk. "Here. Try not to scowl while drinking it."

His eyes flick up to me, and, of course, he has the audacity to smirk. He takes a slow sip, as if I didn't just fantasize about pouring it over his head. "It's hard when you're glaring at me like I ruined your favorite book ending."

I narrow my eyes. "Because you did."

He leans back in his chair, casual and unaffected. "I did you a favor."

"A favor?" I cross my arms. "By ripping my heart out through an unsolicited spoiler?"

He tilts his head. "I saved you emotional trauma. You should be thanking me."

"You ruined four hundred pages of emotional investment because you couldn't handle me being at peace with my fictional men," I snap.

His lips twitch. "He wasn't even that impressive."

I gasp, baffled. "He was perfect!"

"He had commitment issues and unresolved trauma."

"So do you, but here I am, dealing with it."

He takes another sip of coffee like he didn't just get personally attacked. "You're being dramatic."

"And you're being impossible."
