She recognises me.
I know this because of the way her eyes widen when she takes me in.
Her body freezes when I walk towards her, my attention solely focused on her eyes. I'm aware of the expression I have on my face. It's anything but a nice one. I had to go through a deal of shit because of her and while some part of me does know it was a misunderstanding the irrational part of me is enraged.
"Sir, here's your seat." The division head directs me towards my seat when I walk past her, ignoring her greeting. Do not lose it here Mahir, I remind myself as I walk over to my seat and sit down, my eyes not leaving that smurf.
She was clad in another shade of blue today. Something about the colour made her look more put together and calm. More mature than she looked yesterday, yet young and innocent.
I watch as she greets other employees as they fill the conference room taking seats one after the other until there are only two seats left.
"Where is the Deputy head manager? Why is there no one from his team?" I hear the division head asking and turn to him with a frown. "He's on leave."
"Leave? Without prior information? Didn't he know about today's meeting?" He asks and the employee stammers a reply. "H-he said he was on a private holiday with his partner."
I see the girl and the boy with her go around the room, providing us with folders of the proposal, my jaw ticking as she closes on me.
"Fire him," I order and everyone turns to me with looks of surprise. The smurf pauses, her neck snapping towards me as she presents me with a wide-eyed look.
"What?" Head Manager asks and I cock a brow. "Our company is not a place for people who prioritise personal attachments over their work. If he cannot be serious over his position it's better to give it to someone who is," I reply and he nods shakily.
"Shall we start the presentation then?" The Marketing Division 1 head asks, simmering the tense air and everyone nods.
The lights dim down and I see the smurf and her partner whispering something to each other before she smiles softly and he moves to the projector. Is he her boyfriend? Was I right that she isn't single?
