(part 2/2)

Lucy had tried to tell her mum about the type of person she suspected George Knight was but Linda was otherwise preoccupied trying to keep things at the Queen Vic in order with their newest residents. Feeling defeated and sinking back into her grief, Lucy tried to take a moment to herself and relax in her room, only to have her depression playlist interrupted by the nuisances that were Anna and Gina loudly unpacking. The bassy club music reverberated through the floors, and the walls, and the ceilings - most importantly the walls to Lucy's bedroom. She was not having it.

"What are you doing?" Lucy burst through into the lounge, at her wit's end with everything really. Her brows furrowed in disbelief at the racket they were making.

"Unpacking, what does it look like, babe?" Gina laughs with a slight eye roll, sifting through her clothes in one of the many cardboard boxes swarming the room.

"Oh my god look at this dress! It's totally your colour, umm..." Anna held up a bright yellow dress, awkwardly trailing off.

"Lucy," she reminded them of her name, teeth gritted.

"You should take it!" Anna enthusiastically held the dress of against Lucy. Absolutely not, she thought.

"No I'm fine thanks, just, turn it down, yeah?" Lucy brushed the girl off, not even bothering fake a smile to keep the peace as she made her way into the kitchen. There she found her mum and younger brother, Olly, in his own world with a toy truck.

"Hi Ols," Lucy ruffled his soft hair, taking a seat beside him and just gazing off at the wall in front of her.

"Why you being different?" the quiet, curious voice belonging to Olly brought her out of her trance.

"Am I?" Lucy questioned, blinking and looking down at him.

"Normally you are smiling more," Olly noted, eyes fixated in his older sister's face - the one that normally greeted him with a smile.

"I'm feeling sad today, Ols, but I'll try and smile a bit more for you, eh? How does that sound?" Lucy patiently asked him. After all, he didn't mean anything wrong by what he said. He didn't know that Lola had passed away and something in Lucy's brain told her that if she tried to explain it, it would be hard for him to understand.

"Yeah," Olly nodded, returning to playing with his truck, content with his queries being answered.

Lucy sighed lightly, sinking into the chair and mulling over the events of the day. She had lost someone so dear to her and it made her angry. How was it fair that such a beautiful soul was taken away from them all?

Linda kissed Lucy on the head, noting the contemplative state her daughter was in. She placed a sandwich in front of her on the kitchen table, cut down the middle into triangles, just how Lucy liked it.

"Thanks Mum," Lucy said softly, not yet taking a bite. Her appetite felt all over the place.

Linda smiled back, stroking back the wispy strands of hair on Lucy's head before her peace was wiped away when she heard the music blasting again. It was louder this time, like the door had been purposefully left open.

"Where did Olly go?" Linda questioned, before groaning and quickly exiting the room, "those girls!"

Lucy finally nibbled at her cheese and pickle sandwich whilst Linda raged at Gina and Anna for not having the decency to be aware of not only the rest of them that live there too, but for Olly who was overstimulated and overwhelmed from the loud noises.

"I don't like Nanny Elaine's friends," Olly announced quietly once he was sat back in his designated kitchen chair.

"Me neither, Ols."
