Amanda pov
The day of the event slowly came closer. With preparations at full speed, Daniel hasn't been home much, which is understandable. As for me, I'm an emotional wreck. Most nights, I sleep next to Nona, trying to spend as much time with her as possible.
She barely wakes up now, and when she is awake, she's very drowsy. The doctor said it was due to the medication, and without it, she would be in extreme pain. I miss her, She's the woman that raised me and taught me everything I know. It's hard to see such a strong woman like this.
Reah is picking me up in a few minutes to get a dress for the event. I liked one that i saw online and ordered it but when it arrived, it didn't sit right. The waist area was bigger than it was supposed to be, and the material wasn't good.
I'm about to walk out the house when I see Daniel get home. He eyes scan me, probably asking himself where I'm going. " afternoon tereso, " he says before cutting his call. " you going somewhere,"
He locks his amber eyes with my brown ones as he waits for a response. " Uhm yeah I'm going to the mall,"
" why, do you need something?,"
I internally roll my eyes because what kind of question is that. One can go to the mall to just walk around. " yeah, I need a dress for event coming up,"
" you should have told me , I would have gotten all the trending dresses here and would pick the ones you like to keep, " he says while taking out his wallet before handing me two cards " here is my card buy whatever you want and here is the card of my family boutique, think you would find something of your liking there, "
" you going alone?," he asks
" No, I'm going with Reah. " I try to hand him back the his bank card but he ignores my hand. " I can get the dress with my own money, I don't need this,"
" I know you can amor but I insist, please use it, " he responds while walking to the kitchen. I was about to go after then I heard Reah hunk from outside and I decide to just keep it in my purse and give it to him later.
Once at the mall we go into a few stores and don't really find anything that fits the occasion. Sighing " let's go to this other shop Denial recommended. "
She agrees and we make out to the shop. " afterwards we should get waffles,"
" yeah the ones that come with ice cream and jelly, " I say as we reach the store. I internally gasps and how elegant it is. Just looking at the exterior you can tell that's its way above my economic bracket.
We walk in and the store smells rich, upon our walk in a girl in uniform hands us champagne. Reah and I exchange looks and were about to leave but then I spotted the perfect dress.
" maybe we can just have a look around, yeah?"
Reah nods as her eyes roam the store. I make my way to the dress and it's even prettier up close, I look for my size and tell Reah that I'm going to try it on.
This dress is so gorgeous, it hugs my body perfectly and the purple compliments my skin tone so well. While I'm admiring myself in the mirror I hear people arguing outside. I quickly change back into my clothes before heading out.
" what's going on here I ask?" I see Reah and what I assume is the manager , sizing each other up.
" this fucking lady is being racist, " Reah explains. " she is asking us to leave the store because she thinks we don't fit in here, "
I look at our sweatpants and T shirts and see why she thinks that but still it isn't good to judge your customers based on what they look like. " Excuse me ma'am, I don't understand the problem, "
The woman that I assume was the manager diverts her attention to me. " you and your friend need to leave my store," her accent coming out thick as she speaks.
" but why, we are customers right? "
She sighs to herself and curses under her breath before walking up to me. She has beautiful amber eyes and dirty blonde hair but her attitude is very distasteful.
" I don't know where you think you are but this isn't dollar store, there's nothing for you in here, "
" listen here you old hag," Reah yells. " who do you think you are talking to her like that huh? "
" If she wanted she could buy your whole store, do you even know who she is?"
" Reah," I try to calm her down.
" no Amanda, this foreign bitch doesn't know shit but she's being racist, "
