Daniel pov
"Mr. Anderson" my secretary addressed as I rushed out of the elevator onto my office floor. " Mr .Johnson is waiting for you in the office."
I nod and enter the office. " Mr. Johnson, my apologies for the wait I wasn't aware you were coming in today,"
" No worries son, I didn't wait that long,"
I take my sit and call my assistant Rose on the office line. " bring the documents for the event". I turn my attention back to the Mr.Johnson. " she'll bring the documents in a few and I'll brief you on what we have done so far."
When the documents arrive, I dive into explaining the collaboration with different companies and brands. Breaking down the details of the planing and budget for the event. As I denote the ins and out he nods and adds a few comments here and there.
I can tell his attention isn't really focused on what I'm saying. " are you pleased with the planning or is there something you would like us to fix?"
" Daniel you have done phenomenal planning and I'm sure the event will be great and definitely one to remember, but that's not why I came to see you today."
I close the documents and lean back into my chair. " I'm sorry, I assumed that you were here to discuss the event." I explain. " what is it that you want to discuss with me?"
" I hope I'm not invading, it's kind of personal," he clears his throat before going on. " I wanted to ask how your wife Amanda is doing?"
I frown. " she's doing fine," I vaguely answer not sure to why he is concerned about her.
" This may come as a shock but I knew Amanda's mother and grandmother a while back. I recently learned that her grandmother is sick and doesn't have much time left."
" you were a family friend?" I ask
" something like that, but we ended on bad terms that's why we aren't in contact anymore. "
" sorry to ask but if you haven't been in contact with her family all this years what brings you here," I don't know why but I feel like his story isn't adding up.
" I understand your discomfort with this conversation but I don't need you to tell me the details of anything, just wanted to know how she's doing, " he saying sincerely.
I look at the man with many questions which I will later have to solve. " Amanda is doing okay based on the circumstances, she's a strong woman, "
" oh that's good to hear, I got a little concerned that she might not be handling it well because her grandmother is all she has left in this world, "
I frown at the last sentence. " she's not alone, she has me. She has her husband, " I say the last part more firmly than intended but how dare he say she has no one when she is clearly married to me. She has me and that's more than enough.
Even if the contract ends I'll still take care of her because she is a good person and deserves everything under the sun and I'll happily give it to her if she asks.
So she's not alone, she won't be alone until I die even if she wants nothing to do with me after this whole thing I'll make sure she has a beautiful life.
" yes of course you are there, " he says. " thank you for your understanding, if you don't mind I'll like to visit her Grandmother with my wife and bring her flowers sometime if that's okay,"
" Uhm sure that's okay I guess I'll have to ask my wife and see if she is comfortable with that. "
" totally I fine to me, " he says before getting up and shaking my hand. " I'll be expecting a call from you, "
I give him a brief nod as he walks out. Mr. Johnson is a very respected man in the industry and has a good reputation. We recently just started working together after I announced my marriage and so far it has been very beneficial for my company.
If he knew Amanda's mother and grandmother why didn't he mention it when we were at dinner together. He met her that night he could have brought it up.
I shake my head, maybe he didn't recognise her. Like he said he knew the mom and grandmother, he probably has never met her before then.
I sigh as I pack up the documents and drop them off at the secretary desk on my way out. " give this to my assistant and cancel my schedule for the rest of the day,"
