the dream began like something pulled from another life—another universe. i was in a place i didn't recognize, a warm home bathed in soft sunlight. the air was light, peaceful. i sat at the dinning table, the scent of fresh green tea filling the room. across from me sat touya.

his hair was still snow-white, but his skin was unmarked, except for his nose and ear piercings, his smile radiant and easy. he looked... happy. not the twisted version of himself i'd come to know as dabi. next to him, a boy sat on a tatami chair, his snow-white hair wild like his father's. my heart clenched when i realized it was our son.

the one i saw in my birthday dream...

"he's been doing well with his quirk training," touya said, his voice rich with pride as he tousled our son's hair. "he's a natural, my love. just like you said he'd be."

"that's because he listens to you," i replied, watching them both. "he's very fortunate to have you as his mentor."

touya turned back to me, his grin softening. "and the suit you made? perfect. it's held up even when i've pushed my limits, i don't feel or get a single burn." he reached out, his hand brushing against mine. the warmth in his touch felt so real. "you always know how to take care of me, huh?"

i opened my mouth to respond, but something shifted. the warmth bled away, replaced by a creeping cold. the sunlight dimmed, and when i looked down at our son, his chair was empty.

"touya?" i whispered, panic rising in my chest. "where is he?"

he didn't answer. instead, he stared past me, his eyes wide with fear. when i turned to follow his gaze, i saw it: a massive blue fireball, roaring and consuming everything in its path.

the dream fractured like glass, pulling me into another vision. the fireball remained, but now i saw them, the todoroki family circling it. shoto stood with his hands outstretched, trying to contain the flames with his ice, while enji's massive frame loomed nearby, his own flames acting as a barrier. rei, filled with ice all over her body, knelt on the ground, her face pale and stricken with grief, while fuyumi and natsuo called out desperately to someone in the center of it all.

touya.

his silhouette stood at the heart of the inferno, his blue flames consuming him like a living thing. his gaze locked onto mine, piercing and accusing.

"you let me burn," he said, his voice hollow.

"no," i whispered, backing away. "no, i didn't. i tried—"
