// lola is played by hayley williams, I think she fits my view of her almost perfectly. You can imagine her as whoever though//"How do you say I like coffee in French?" Ashton asked glancing up at the very confused girl. She bit anxiously on the nail of her thumb as she thought about the phrase. She remembers this lesson, but she doesn't remember it well enough to know how the phrase by heart.
She sighed after a minute of silence "I don't remember".
"Lola these are the basics, you should know this one" Ashton matched her sigh of frustration and circled another phrase from the list- so they come back to it.
"I know" she hid her face into her hands out of embarrassment. Lola felt stupid for not being able to remember such a simple one, this was stuff she learned in middle school. Though even then she wasn't very good at it. She just had trouble remembering words from a different language.
Ashton softly laid a hand on her back and began to rub calming circles. "You'll get it, eventually" he quietly reassured her. But Lola knew he was only being nice, and Lola knew she wasn't going to get it eventually.
Lola sighed once again and stood from Ashtons bed as she began to stretch her aching muscles.
"Can we take a break?" She hesitantly asked. Lola didn't want Ashton to be disappointed in her, but she couldn't contiue- her brain was hurting.
"Of course" he nodded and sat aside the French workbook.
Lola gratefully smiled and sat back down. Ashton watched her as he sat criss cross against the wall that pressed against his mattress.
"Can we go for a walk?" Lola asked looking at Ashton with hopeful eyes.
He nodded and lifted himself off the bed before grabbing a random pair of sneakers that were laying across the floor. Lola watched him pull a hoodie from his closest and slip it over his head.
"Ready?" He looked back to the girl who had already followed him to the door.
"Ready" she smiled.
They walked down the long spiral staircase. Lola admired the house as much as she did when entering. It was nothing like hers. The house was lit up on both floors, a fake plant standing in corners at random areas in the house. Lola thought about how her house always seemed dark. It was only a one story with two bedrooms and a single hall bathroom. The only thing Lolas house had more of than Ashtons was the backyard, and that was only because Ashtons parents bought an above ground pool.
"Ash" a small voice spoke from behind them the moment they reached the front door.
They both turned around, Lola smiled at the little girl with long flowing curly hair. The little girl smiled as Ashton picked her up and rested her on his hip.
"Looks like someone woke up from their nap huh" Ashton spoke poking the little girls stomach.
She weakly nodded before resting her head on Ashtons shoulder, obviously still tired.
"Amelia this is Lola, a friend from school" Ashton introduced the two never breaking his gaze on the little girl.
"Hi Amelia" Lola smiled and playfully waved, she adored kids. Taking care of Dustin basically 24/7 made her appreciate every little thing they did. Even when they're moody and being annoying, Lola still seemed to love every second she spent with them.
Amelia waved, shying away as she dug her head further up into the crook of Ashtons neck. Ashton rolled his eyes at the little girl.
"She's never this shy, usually she'd be clinging onto the leg of strangers" he shook his head, apologizing for her lack of communication.
Ashton sat the little girl down and knelt so he was eye level "I'll be back in a few okay, maybe you can draw a picture for me while you wait- yeah?".
Amelia nodded and ran up the stairs, her small feet making the slightest sound as she slammed them against the marble floors.
Finally they had made it outside and began to walk a random direction. Lola took notice of the gorgeous neighborhood, each house with fake green grass reaching across their yards.
"So, what's your family like" Ashton started a conversation after a couple steps of awkward silence.
Lola shrugged "I don't have much family" she wasn't in the mood to explain her life at home. She just wanted to not think, just for once she wanted her mind to be clear of worries.
"Why's that" Ashton looked over to Lola worryingly.
"My dad died when I was around six, I don't remember much of him except the little things" she explained now looking in the green eyes of Ashton Irwin.
He was afraid to ask the question tugging at his sleeve, but he figured Lola wouldn't mind- since she was such an open person. "Like what?" He questioned.
"Like how he'd read me bedtime stories" she started and began to smile at the faint memories. "Or when he took me out for pizza after school behind my moms back because her cooking was so bad. When he let me lick the spoon used to mix brownies or that one time I broke my moms favorite vase and he took the blame for it".
"Seems like you guys were close" he looked down at his feet, mentally cursing himself for wearing the mix matching sneakers.
"Yeah, we were" she replied and kicked a passing rock.
"If it makes you feel any better, my parents divorced my freshman year of high school" he quietly responded hoping his sad past would boost her feelings a little.
Lola looked over to the boy biting the inside of his cheek. "I'm sorry" she apologized, not knowing the feeling of having two parents divorce- but still sympathetic for his pain.
He shrugged "It's okay".
They walked a few more blocks in enjoyable silence before deciding it was getting a bit dark and started walking back.
Lola jumped quietly, startled by a rain drop falling onto the tip of her nose. Ashton giggled before sticking his hand out and feeling a couple rain drops fall into his palm.
Then all at once the rain grew heavier and fell like needles against the concrete. Lola screamed once she became drenched from rainwater, which caused Ashton to giggle again at the girl he found most adorable.
"Here" he started and pulled the hoodie from his body "Put this on".
Lola smiled at his offer but shook her head "You're gonna get soaked now" she yelled over the loud thunder.
He shrugged "I'd rather you have it".
Lola nodded and pulled the hoodie over her petite body, it reached past her thighs and grazed over her knee. Ashton smiled at the girl who shivered in spot, making sweater paws with the overflowing sleeves. He couldn't help but think about how lucky he was to be face to face with such a beauty. Her smile made his heart flutter, he sounded like a school girl but it was true. Ashton Irwin had a crush on Lola Nicholson, and he desperately hoped she had one on him too.
"You're adorable" Ashton quietly complimented, but the loud thunder restricted his words from reaching the ears of the girl standing across from him.
"What?" She raised her voice.
He shook his head and began to walk before getting an idea and turning around to Lola, who was already following closely behind.
"Get on my back" he spoke into her ear, Lola excitedly clapped and did as instructed.
And for the rest of the walk home Ashton ran through pouring rain with the girl who ranted about Teen Wolf wrapped around his body.
