Boscha's Rein.
December 34th, fourteen twenty, Boscha's Kingdom.
At the crack of dawn, the potion's queen awoke to begin her duties. She sighs, rolling back her shoulders as she sits. "Maya.." Boscha murmurs.
The crab palisman chitters, hopping off her staff and skittering to Boscha. "Go wake my people.." Boscha raises her hand, covering her mouth as she yawns.
Maya hops off the bed, escaping through a small latch in the door, Boscha raising to her feet and making way for her closet. The queen dresses, tying her hair up into a tight bun, sighing as she places her crown on her head. Her door is softly knocked on, then a voice, "My Queen, we've readied your chores of the day."
Boscha approaches the door, unlocking it and opening it, "Thank you Matt, lead the way." She tips her head forward.
He bows, linking arms with her and guiding her down the stairs to the throne room. "My Queen!" A maid approaches with a tray. "I've brought breakfast!"
"Thank you, Skara-"
"I've brought your letters." Another maid approaches, a tray of 4 letters in her hands.
"Bo, yes, thank you-"
"One of them is from Cheshire."
Boscha perks, holding her hand out, Bo selecting a letter and placing it on her palm. "Cheshire? When did this arrive?" Boscha flips the clearly worn letter, noting the creased edges and cracked seal.
"It arrived an hour ago, it was uncursed so we brought it here, now." Bo answers.
Boscha peels off the wax seal, nearly ripping the letter inside as she hurries to pull it free. Bo takes the trash, Boscha opening the letter, "Dear Queen Boscha,
How have you been? I hope well, building something fresh and without history is a difficult thing I hope you managed.
I've got a favor to ask of you, My Queen. I know we were not close for me to ask of such, but my letters to Luz have gone unanswered.
I sense danger approaching, and I am afraid. I am afraid I can not protect my people, and I ask you for your help. As the months get colder, others grow desperate for our crops, but we can't provide them with such.
My Queen, please send your people to protect us, if only for a week or two. I have reason to believe the kingdom we are protected by has been infiltrated, and that they can not and will not be here in our time of need.
If this letter has reached you too late, if it is past anytime from December 2nd to December 20th, or even later than that, then we have lost.
Hopefully, this letter arrives to you soon.
Many thanks, Cheshire"
Boscha lowers the letter, a sudden chill filling her. "Matt, send a squad for recon on the outskirts of King Alador's kingdom, check for survivors or any signs of attack. Tell them to report to me as soon as they step foot into the town run by the Mayor cat."
"Right away, My Queen!" Matt bows, running off towards the posts.
Bo and Skara take either side of Boscha, guiding her to her throne room, her heels clacking at the marble tiles. She narrows her eyes at the mound of dirt in the near center, the sword glistening at the sun's morning light. "Bo, read me the other letters. Skara, please leave breakfast at my throne, and send for my list of duties."
Skara scurries to Boscha's throne, setting the tray down and scampering off down a hallway. Bo sets the tray on a table, opening a letter, "This one comes from a Hunter Wittebane-"
Boscha whips her head around, "That blonde bastard is still alive?!"
"..Boscha, that was rude to shout." Bo quirks a brow.
"Ah, forgive me-" Boscha clears her throat. "Please continue."
Bo clears her throat, gazing at the letter, "Oh. Dear.." Bo swallows. "Dear Queen Boscha,
Still kicking are you? Luz told me you still lived, and I heavily doubted such. You couldn't tell your left from your right, I was appaled to even see the proof of your existence now.
You bag of bones."
"Oh that little son of a-"
"My Queen!" Bo hisses.
Boscha scowls, fuming as she walks to her throne, lifting the tray, sitting down and setting the tray over herself. The queen grumbles as she lifts the lid, angrily muttering, "Rabbit is my favorite. That blonde bastard. Thank you chefs, this was kind of you on your end to make so early..That blonde bastard."
"My Queen," Bo rubs her temples, sighing longily as she nears Boscha. "May I continue?"
"Tch- Yes, you may.." Boscha stuffs her face, glaring at the sword.
"Ahem- But a bag of bones I missed regardless. Luz has told me you have done great things, you are creating your own legacy. That is a most impressive feat, and for that, I truly give you my appreciation."
Boscha stills, visibly softening. "....."
Bo continues, "We have unfortunately been in the midst of a war, but it has come to a halt due to the holidays. So I thought to wish you a Merry Christmas, Boscha. The tides are turning in our favor, and we expect to see victory in the days to come.
I hope you are well, Boscha. Much love from your annoying friend,
Hunter Wittebane."
Boscha raises her head, sighing as she eyes the sword, left untouched for many many moons. "Who are the other letters from, Bo?"
Humming as she leans forward, Bo skims the letters, "One is from Luz Wittebane, and the other from..The Roman numeral for five (5/V)."
Boscha jolts, "What?"
"Yes, here," Bo offers the letter. "The numeral for five (5/V)."
Boscha bites her lip, "Bo, send for a horse." She pinches the bridge of her nose, glaring at the sword in the dirt. "I've got some business to take care of.."
Bo glares, "You have business here first, Boscha."
"No, this can't wait." She sets the tray aside. "Bo, do as ordered. Send Matt my way as soon as you're done."
Bo retaliates. Oh, maybe this is serious. "Yes My Queen." Bo bows, setting the two letters down and walking off with her tray.
Boscha glares at the letter doning V, clicking her tounge. "Why now..Our deal was over weeks ago.."
She nearly rips the letter open, unraveling the note and glaring as she reads over it. All it reads is, "The sky is beautiful, isn't it?"
Boscha clenches the letter, the paper crumpling in disdain. Boscha balls the letter and note up, throwing it to the side as she steps forward, reaching out. Her fingers graze the pommel of the sword, hand comfortably closing over the grip, the hilt grazing her wrist as she pulls.
The sword is rusted slightly at the tip, but elsewhere it has been perfectly cared for, sharpened at its place and cleaned daily. "I'll see you soon, Luz." Boscha whispers, raising the sword, meeting her own gaze in the reflection of the blade.
Matt speeds back to her, catching his breath as he stops in front of her. "I..Am at your disposal, My Queen.."
"Matt, are you ready to kill for me?"
He stands upright, eyes lighting up, "Always, My Queen."
"We leave in ten minutes." Boscha lowers the sword. "We're going on a little trip.."
Tis, their adventure continues.
