Hey, guys! Thanks for the views and sweet comments I got. Enjoy(:
KAYLEE’S POV
I turned on the sink, and picked up my tooth brush. Gently, I squeezed the toothpaste on my brush and put it in my mouth, pulling it back and forth. My first day of school hadn’t gone exactly according to plan, but it was still alright. The goal I had set was to be a loner, and not talk to anyone. Instead, I’ve been caught talking to the most popular girl in school’s boyfriend. Great. He was cute, sure. His dark brown hair falling over his right eye, and his school jacket, I’m guessing he played for some sport team. I couldn’t get him out of my head, but I knew I had to. He was clearly with Skylar, and I have no experience with boys. He was just being nice, right?
NICHOLAS’S POV
I sat quietly on the couch, looking at the TV, even though it wasn’t turned on. I was zoned out, thinking about Kaylee. She was so nice, so sweet, and so innocent. I don’t have feelings for her—At least I don’t think I do. I like Skylar, and only Skylar. But I loved the way she didn’t freak out when I talked to her, like the other girls.
“Nick,” I looked down at Skylar, who was resting her head on shoulder, “Are you okay?”
“What? Oh, yeah, I’m fine.” I said, trying to convince myself I was.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Sky, I’m fine. See?” I told her as I kissed her softly. I didn’t let her respond, I kept kissing her to reassure everything was okay.
“You would tell me if there was something wrong, right?” Skylar asked, pulling away from me.
“Of course I would,” I said into her neck, “Now; we can go into my room. My mom won’t be home until midnight.”
“I’m sorry, Nick. I can’t, not tonight. I’m still convinced there’s something not right,” She told me, sitting up; “I’ll see you tomorrow.” She told me and gave me a peck on the cheek.
“Skylar! C’mon, there’s nothing wrong!” I called, but it was too late.
So even Skylar knew something was different. I wonder if Kaylee noticed something between us. What am I talking about? I’ve talked to her once. Met her once. You can’t decide whether you like someone or even if there is something there, having met them once. I’ll talk to her at school tomorrow; maybe ask if she wants to hang out. That way, I’ll know if there is something there. Problem solved.
KAYLEE’S POV
“Hey, Kiddo,” My father said to me as I walked downstairs, “How was the first day of school?” He asked me, because he didn’t get home until eleven last night, I was already asleep.
“Fine,” I answered.
“Any boys?” My father asked me in a high voice.
“Dad. I’m not talking about boys with you.”
“Oh, thank god.” He said, as he let out a breath.
I glared at him before I started laughing. I walked over to the bathroom to check and make sure my hair and make-up was good. I looked down to straighten my plaid skirt and made sure my black and white polka-dot shirt was in place. I took lipstick out of my pocket, and ran the purple stick across my lips.
“Dad, I’m leaving!” I called as I opened the door.
“Don’t you want me to drive you?” He asked, from the couch.
“No, I think I can walk. It’s only a half mile.” I said, walking out the door.
I stepped out on the porch and walked down the stairs, quietly humming to myself. I kicked a rock with my pink flats and kept walking. Each house I passed reminded me that I was closer to school, which means I was closer to Skylar. I was not looking forward to hear her making fun of my outfit. Not that I cared about what people thought, I dressed to please myself, and no one else.
