I was trying to appear casual as I leaned against the mailbox in front of Hayden's house. It's Tuesday, and I figured hey..why not join Hayden on a chilly walk to school? After all, I had a fun time with her this last weekend-even if our kiss was interrupted by her sneezing. It really sucked, because I wanted to kiss her so damn bad.
At first, I was thinking of asking her to ride with me on my bike, but since that didn't go to well last time, I decided to play it safe and walk instead.
I heard her front door open and my head jerked up. Without thinking, my hands flew to my hair to ruffle it. A small smile played on my face as I took in Hayden's frantic movements. She must feel late or something.
When she whipped around and met my eyes, her blue ones widened in surprise then turned to confusion, "Oh, Trey? What are you doing here?"
I took this moment to check her out. Don't judge, I'm just a guy.
Hayden was wearing low grey boots that went well with her long light blue sweater dress thing. She was also wearing black leggings. And if I do say so myself, she looked pretty damn good in them. I glanced back up to meet her eyes, "Didn't feel like riding my bike to school today. So I thought I'd join you on your morning walk to school," I explained as she walked down her front porch steps to meet me at the edge if her front yard.
I'm not sure if my mind was deceiving me or not, but I could have sworn I saw her face expressing that she was pleasantly surprised, "Well thank you."
I gave her a half smile as we began to walk, "No problem. See? Chivalry lives on."
She rolled her eyes, "You don't look like a knight in shining armor."
I scoffed, "So you're saying knights don't have guns like these?" I flexed as I said this and saw Hayden checking out my arms.
She simply shrugged and said "Eh, you're alright." But I didn't miss the blush on her cheeks. Before a silence could fall, Hayden took the chance to speak "So when are your games this week?"
"I think Wednesday and Friday, but only the Wednesday is a home game," I paused and she nodded. "Do you think, maybe, we could start tutoring this week?" I fumbled out quickly. In truth, I felt kind of embarrassed that I needed math and Spanish help just so I could get into college. It's weird because I'm actually really good at English, which happens to be my highest grade.
She smiled, "Yeah sure. I'm free basically all week. At least one of my parents will probably home today so I won't have to watch Thomas. Or I could always ship him to a friend's house or something too."
I nodded in agreement, "Sounds good to me. All I've got is basketball, we could probably work at my house after school. Well, if that works for you," I sputtered out quickly. I don't know why I was so nervous, maybe because this would be her first time being in my house with my family.
Yikes. Hopefully all goes well..

I've never seen such a small girl pound a hamburger so fast.
It was lunch time, and me and the Drew joined Hayden, Claire, Lilly, and Seth at their table. The cafeteria was serving hamburgers and their special homemade fries. Our school is known for actually having pretty tasty burgers, and it seemed like most of the school got them.
Let's just say Hayden ate hers so quickly you wouldn't have even thought she got one. I wasn't even half way through with mine.
If I'm being totally honest, I was slightly impressed.
