Ch.13 Cheater

After the tour, Elena and Olivia went to the motel Elena was staying in. They went in and saw Julie watering the plants.

"Oh hey girls" she said when she saw them come in.

"Hey Julie" they smiled.

"So Elena" Julie said "How was your day?"

"It was good" Elena said.

"Julie!" they heard Macy scream as she ran from behind a wall.

"Macy what is it?" Julie asked.

"We caught a mouse!" Macy yelled.

"Ok ok calm down" Julie said as she went behind the wall and saw a mouse that was caught in a mouse trap.

Julie picked up the trap as the mouse ran to a corner.

"Don't worry" she said in a calming voice "I wont hurt you".

She then went into the lobby with the mouse trap.

"Ew get it away from me" Macy said as she stepped away from the mouse trap.

"It's just a little mouse" Julie said as she looked at the mouse that was still huddling in a corner "Aw, the little thing's scared to death".

"What are you gonna do with it?" Olivia asked.

"I'm gonna set it free" Julie said as she opened the door of the entrance and went near the woods, the girls watched as she opened the door to the trap and placed it on the ground.

"Go on" she said to the mouse "You're free to go".

The mouse went to the entrance of the door and hopped out of the trap and scattered into the woods. Julie then picked up the trap and went back inside the motel.

"You must like animals" Elena said.

"I do" Julie said "That's why I also work at the animal shelter".

"Interesting".

"Well Elena and I are gonna hang out in her room" Olivia said.

"Ok" Macy and Julie said.

"If you need anything just ask" Macy said as Elena and Olivia went to Elena's room.

"So how long are you staying here again?" Olivia asked.

"A week" Elena said as she sat on the bed "That is until I get a permanent home".

"You know, if you can't find a permanent home, I've got an extra room at my house that you can stay in".

"Really?"

"Yeah".

"But, don't you live with someone?"

"Actually, I live alone".

"What?"

"Yeah, a lot of us live alone, sometimes with each other. Only a few of us live with their parents, like Kayla, she lives with her dad, but I don't know what happened to her mom though".

"And that's legal here?"

"Pretty much, but we know how to take care of ourselves".

"So, do you like have a job or something?"

"Well actually, the mayor sends us money every month".

"Really?"

"Yeah, he know that a lot of us live alone and sometimes we can't afford jobs, so he helps us by sending money every month, but we have to be careful on what we spend it on".
