Ch.45 Sorry

That evening, when the close was the closed, Elena walked up to the front yard of the school and looked around. And at that time Terrence showed up.

"Terrence?" Elena said "What are you doing here?"

"I got a text from a blocked number saying to come to the school at 6" he said.

"That's strange, I got the same text from a blocked number".

"Who texted us?"

"That was me" Rachel appeared "I had to block my number because I was afraid you guys wouldn't come if you knew it was from me".

"So why do you wants us?" Elena asked.

"Because I need to talk to you guys" she said with a guilty look "I know that it was my fault that cause you guys to 'break up', and I just wanted to say that, well-" she hesitated "I'm sorry. It's just, I got so jealous with you guys being together, because, well-" she turned to Terrence "Terrence, you were the first guy I've ever liked, and I really did wanted to tell you how I felt, but I was scared that you only saw me as a friend. And now you like Elena, and I shouldn't feel jealous, I should feel happy for you, you found someone you really like, and I am glad that you like Elena, I mean she's beautiful, talented, nice, and you gets you".

Elena gave a small smile.

"And Elena" Rachel turned to her "I'm sorry that I ruined your date, it's just, I was afraid that Terrence would spend more time with you than with me, and I feel really bad hurting your feelings".

She then faced both of them "So what I'm trying to say is, I want you guys to hang out together again, have fun together, you guys like each other, and I'm happy for you guys" she said with a small smile.

Terrence and Elena gave each other small smiles.

"Rachel" Terrence said "Can I talk to you alone for a moment?"

She nodded as they went to a tree.

"How long have you liked me?" he asked.

"Since we became friends" she said "I liked how dorky you were compared to your brother, and I felt kinda sad how you're the outcast and I felt that you needed a friend. But the more we hung out, I developed feelings for you, but I thought you wouldn't feel the same way. And then Elena came and you started liking her and I thought that I wouldn't have a chance with you. But I'm glad you like her, and she likes you, and I'm happy for you guys".

Terrence gave a smile "Well thank you Rachel, and I'm glad you confessed, cause like what you always tell everyone: 'If you like someone, tell them, they want to know'. And I'm really flattered, I never thought someone actually liked me because I'm not like my brother".

"Well I think you're more charming than your brother, but don't tell him I said that".

Terrence gave a small laugh "Well, once again, thank you for confessing, I love you Rachel".

Her face lit up.

"As a friend" he added.

"Good enough for me" she smiled.

Terrence then leaned in and plant a kiss on her cheek, she felt herself blushing as they hugged.

"Yes!" she wanted to shout, but instead she felt her eyes water with relief.

After the hug they went back to Elena.

"So" Terrence said to her with a nervous smile "The Homecoming dance is coming up, and-".

"Yes" she cut in with a smile "I would love to be your date".

"Really?" he gasped with a smile as she nodded "Well, that's great".

"Especially since you're one of the nominees for Homecoming Queen" Rachel said to Elena.

"Well I can't wait to go" Elena said.

Rachel gave a smile "I'm glad we worked things out, well I have to go now, I'll see you guys tomorrow".

"Bye" they waved as she went to her car.

"So um" Terrence said "What do you want to do now?"

"You wanna hang out the 'Wonder diner?" Elena suggested.

"Yeah sure".

She linked her arms with his as they headed down the street to the 'Wonder diner'. It felt good to be with each other again.

(16 years ago in the Greek world)

Psyche held onto a basket as she and her sisters stood near a river with sad looks.

"I'm so sorry Psyche" one of her sisters said.

"It's fine I guess" Psyche said as she looked at the basket.

"You sure?" another sister asked.

"Well I mean, even though this was my first child, I can always make more".

"You're taking this pretty well".

"Well I'm actually crying on the inside, but once this is over I'm gonna ball my eyes out in my room".

Psyche then gave a sad sigh as she bent down near the river.

"I'm sorry Luke" she whispered to the basket "I'll never have a chance to raise you, and you'll never get a chance to meet your true love. I'm sorry".

And with that she placed the basket in the river and watched as it flowed the basket down away from land. She gave a sad sigh as her first child drifted away from her. One of her sisters placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Are you gonna be ok?" she asked.

"I don't know" Psyche sighed "This would have to be the most saddest moment of my life next to when Cupid and I, well, broke up".

"But you guys are still friends right?"

"Yeah we talk sometimes, but I was really hoping that my first son would turn out to be the true love for Cupid's new adopted daughter. But now, that might never happen".

"Well, like you said, you can make more".

"Yeah" she sighed "But it's not the same".

"So, what are you gonna do now?"

"I don't know".

Down the river the basket drifted, carrying the stillborn Luke down the flowing water. But as it floated, the basket suddenly got caught in the branches of a small tree near the river. It was stuck, and as the rive flowed by, the basket stayed put.
