Monday mornings. I hate them. The start of a new week of pretending I like my 'friends' just so I don't get bullied. Not again. I don't like any of the people I hang out with. The 'populars'. I just don't want to get bullied. I moved here around a year ago because of getting bullied in my previous school.
I walk through the gates of hell, soon hearing my name being called.
"Phil!" Josh shouted from across the playground before motioning me towards him frantically. "Guess who totally got laid Saturday night!" He says when I reach him, holding his hand up for a high five. I start today's performance, being the Phil who is so chavvy it hurts.
"Wow, congrats mate." I high five him. "Who's the lucky lady?" I ask.
"Alisha Taylor." He smirks. Alisha is the 'hottest' girl in the school. All the guys want to be with her. Except me. I personally prefer boys. But of course they don't know that.
"Oh wow! How did ya manage that then?" I continue pretending to be amazed, although I am really disgusted by this. Josh doesn't want to date her for who she is - and I'm not surprised really, she's horrible - but for her body and I hate it.
"Spotted her out at a night club. Fake ID's get you anywhere huh!" He smirks. "Yeah, she was completely plastered and barely recognized me but then the next thing you know, she's waking up in my bed. I'm not surprised she didn't leave when she saw me. I mean, look at me. We ended up in a complete make-out session but never got anywhere because her mom called her and demanded she got home. Killjoy mom I say." He explains. I nod along with what he's saying.
"Well I say well done mate!" I exclaim, 'safing' him.
"Yeah. I mean, she was amazing. Must be experienced." He says and I smile before the bell rings and we all head inside to form.
"Silence please whilst I take the register!" Mr Rodgers shouts out and we all fall silent. He soon finishes and the class all begin conversations. I make it look like I'm listening but I really don't care what any of the douche's I hang out with think. I notice a girl sat across the room widen her eyes and nudge her friend who then gasp at something behind me. I turn around and notice a prefect stood at the door, talking to Mr Rodgers.
And then I see him.
A beautiful boy with a haircut similar to mine but brown, tall, and gorgeous brown eyes. I catch his eyes as he looks around wearily and smile at him. He awkwardly smiles back and curls further into himself, blushing.
"Okay guys, we have a new student in our group. Want to introduce yourself?" He says to the boy.
"Umm. Not really but okay.. Umm.. I'm Daniel but I prefer Dan.." He says. Dan. Beautiful name for a beautiful boy.
"Okay, more please, what things do you like?" Mr Rodgers encourages.
"Umm.. I like Anime, Muse and stuff like that... I enjoy art I guess.." He mumbles, barely audible.
"And-"
"Sir, can I please just sit down now." Dan begs, cutting Mr Rodgers off before he asks another question. He's not the first person to do that. I went through the entire painful introduction, saying things I knew the 'populars' would like.
"Sure Dan. Take a seat anywhere you like." Sir says and Dan heads straight to the back corner, keeping his head down. My eyes follow him and I stare at him a while, completely ignoring everything the teacher is saying.
He sits there silently, playing with the sleeves of his jumper. He runs his hand up and down the right sleeve before letting out a deep sigh and pulling the sleeve down as far as he can before sniffing and resting his head in his hands. I notice a glint of gold in his eyes as he finally puts his head up and I can't help but admire the swirly-
