What was I going to tell Jayden? He wasn't an idiot. He knew that I wouldn't go to Paris' house dressed like that.
He was a guy, and he'd been very popular with girls. I was sure that he'd catch on.
Maybe if I ran to my room really fast, then he wouldn't notice? That still probably wouldn't work.
I sighed, accepting my defeat and walking inside, prepared to hear the lecture that I was about to get.
I walked, and there he was sitting on the couch. But he wasn't alone.
There was a girl. Well, could I really say that she was a girl. No, she was more like a demon born in the hottest fires of Hell whose only purpose was to make my life miserable.
Marissa.
The only merit that she had was that she was pretty. She was rotten on the inside and wanted nothing more than to see me suffer.
"What is she doing here?" I knew that she was Jayden's girlfriend, but he didn't have to bring her here!
"What are you wearing?" As I thought, he had definitely caught on.
"Clothes? And that's not the issue here - you know that I don't want her coming around!"
"Well, that's not up to you! Where were you, 'cause I know for a fact that you weren't at Paris' house."
"It doesn't matter. She needs to leave!" I avoided talking about my choice of clothing and Dimitri because I knew that it would only make the situation worse. Marissa wasn't welcome here, and Jayden should have respected that.
"She's not leaving! Now, where were you?"
"I said it doesn't matter!"
"It matters to me - you're my baby sister!"
"If she's not going to leave, then where I was shouldn't matter to you! You clearly don't care about what I want!"
I was going to accept my lecture from Jayden once he found out about my lie, but how could I when he let Marissa, of all people, come over?
"Babe, don't stress yourself. Don't worry, I'll leave so you guys can stop fighting. I'm sorry that I caused this." Marissa stood up and held his arm, trying to act like the perfect, thoughtful girlfriend. My blood only boiled more with fury - she very obviously didn't actually care, but Jayden was eating it all up!
"You don't have to leave, babe. She's just being immature."
"No, it's okay, baby. It's getting late now anyway." She wrapped her hands around his neck and practically swallowed his lips, making a huge show of kissing him. It was beyond nauseating to even be around. I mean, really, did they have to use pet names in every single sentence?
She walked towards the door, smirking at me, mocking me. She left, and Jayden focused his attention back on me.
"Look, Jayda, just tell me where you were."
"Tell me why she was here."
"She's my girlfriend! Why should she not be allowed here just 'cause you don't want her to be?"
"Because she treats me like dirt! Every single day, she mocks me, and- and that loving girlfriend act is just to get on my nerves."
I shouldn't have said that. But my fingers were digging so far into my palms that I lost my control over my words.
"Seriously? How self-absored can you be? Not everything revolves around you, Jayda! Not every little thing has to be about you, okay? Do you f***ing understand that?" He roared, finally snapping.
