"That was awesome! I'm so proud of you. King Ben." Mal exhaled with ecstasy and exhaustion cause she'd been running on adrenaline all day. "Thanks feels good after all that preparation to finally get it over with." Ben said equally exhausted flopping down on Mal's bed. "Are you sure you're okay? Ya know about your mother." Ben asked sitting up. Did I care? I mean it's not like she was ever there for me anyway. Mal thought. "Yea I'm fine I mean I have a new family now I really don't need her in my life anymore." She replied sitting with him. Ben gazed at Mal. He was right she had always had those little gold flecks in her eyes. "Oh! I almost forgot! We're supposed to meet everyone in the courtyard after the coronation." Mal squealed pulling Ben up with her. "Come on baby just 5 more minutes?" Ben pouted as Mal pulled him out the door. "Ben we have all the time in the world to be together. I really don't wanna let Evie down she said she had some big announcement." Mal threw Ben his jacket and ran down the hall. "Sure Mal always calls the shots." Ben muttered chasing her. After running through a mile of lush green trees and bushes they finally reached the courtyard. "Next time run slower." Ben whispered to Mal panting. "Come on man up Ben." She replied running over to Evie. Ben sat down on a bench nearby trying to catch his breath when Carlos ran by chasing Dude. "Hey Ben why aren't you with Mal?" Carlos asked stopping in his tracks. "I'm just catching my breath. Mal runs too fast." Ben replied with a snicker. "Oh well we should get over to the gazebo Evie's about to make her big announcement." Carlos said pointing to where Evie and Doug were standing. "Ok let's go." Ben said standing up and walking towards the gazebo with Carlos. Ben snuck up behind Mal and put his arms around her waist which made her yelp. "Relax it's me." Ben whispered making her jaw clench. Before Mal could do anything Evie clinked her glass getting everyone's attention. "Hey everyone. Thanks for coming I know most of you are really exhausted. First I want to congratulate King Ben on his coronation and say thanks to him for making my best friend so happy. Well I don't know exactly how to say this but 1 week ago today me, Mal, Jay, and Carlos arrived here in Auradon to a lot of amazing people and have made great friends. But my favorite part of this story by far is that I have met someone who truly understands me and he always makes me feel like the fairest of them all and I don't need a crown to make me feel like a princess with him which makes me happy to announce that me and Doug are.....engaged!" As soon as Evie finished her speech Mal shouted, "WHAT?!" Evie immediately jumped down from her place on the podium to run over to Ben and Mal. "Evie what are you thinking? You just met the guy and you're so young you have your whole life ahead of you." Mal never had been a fan of marrying too young after her mother's story about her father. "Mal I love Doug and he loves me can't you be supportive like Jay and Carlos?" Evie pleaded. Evie didn't know this but Jay wasn't as supportive as he let on. The fact of the matter was Jay had always liked Evie but he'd never admit it. "Evie even though I don't support teen marriages if you and Doug love each other and you wanna get married then I'm completely behind you." Mal knew Evie would end up marrying Doug anyway no matter what she said so she might as well agree to it. "Thank you M!" Evie shouted throwing her arms around her best friend. While the girls were having their squealing fest a bunch of questions popped into Ben's head. What if Mal was to move in with me? I mean she can't live in the dorms forever summer's coming up. What if we got married? Not to sound conceded but every king needs a queen.
If Ben could convince Mal of this Evie wouldn't be the only one engaged.
