Evie's POV
It's finally here. All these months of preparation led us to this day. My wedding day. I'm so excited. My bridesmaids (Mal, Audrey,Jane, and Lonnie) are coming over in 10 minutes to help me get ready while Doug and his groomsmen (Ben,Jay,Carlos, and Chad) went over to Chad's to help each other get ready. I went to my closet and took out my dress (pictured above), then I went to my bathroom to turn my flat iron on and grab my makeup. Just as I finished getting everything out there was a knock on the door. I ran to the door, opened it and there stood my four best friends holding their dresses. "Why aren't you guys dressed?" I asked.
"We wanted to get ready with you." Mal said walking into my room and putting her dress on the bed.
"Yea. So we'll get dressed right now and then help you get ready." Audrey said walking into the bathroom having Jane and Lonnie follow.
I walked into the living room when my cell phone rang. It was Doug.
Bold=Evie
Italics=Doug
Hey hubby-to-be. What's up?
Nothing much. Are the girls there yet?
Yea they're getting ready right now.
Cool. Hey have you seen my black dress shoes?
Yea I seen them in the bedroom just now.
Ok I must've forgotten them so im on my way there to get them. When I get there can you bring them out to me?
Doug we can't see each other before the wedding it's bad luck. Plus I have to make a run to Carlos' dorm because Jane said she left her shoes in there. So chances are I won't even be here when you get here. Ok love you, see you at the altar. Bye!Sure I lied but I did it with love.
I walked in my bedroom to find all my friends dressed doing their hair and makeup.
"You guys look stunning!" I squealed hugging all of them.
"Yea. Yea. Enough about us. We need to get you ready." Lonnie said ushering me to the bathroom and throwing my dress at me.
I undressed and carefully took my dress off the hanger. I slipped the silken material over my body and took a deep breath. I found my shoes and sat down to put them on. I hiked my dress up and put the white 3 inch heels on. I stood up and walked in a straight line before walking down the hall into my bedroom. When I walked in everyone in the room gasped. All of them were shouting things like, "You look beautiful!"and "I wish I looked like you."and "Doug is going to pass out when he sees you." I hope not. I thought.
"Come on ladies we have to get Evie's hair and makeup done because we have like....10 minutes to get to the church!" Mal yelled.
"We'll never make it in time!" Audrey yelled back starting to pack up my flat iron, a couple of hair ties, a hairpiece that was a family airloom, and my makeup.
"I can't be late to my own wedding." I said heading for the front door.
"We won't be late E if we leave for the church right now." Mal reassured me opening the door because I had to hold the train on my dress.
When we got in the car I recognized Doug's Chevy pull up in the driveway. I dunked down so he wouldn't notice me luckily I don't think he did but when I raised up Jay caught a glimpse of me and smiled.
Mal took off before we had a chance to really look at each other.
We got to the church 30 minutes before the wedding was supposed to take place.
We went into the room that said Bridal Room on the door.
When I got sat down Audrey and Lonnie got to work on my hair and Jane and Mal got started on my makeup.
When they got finished 15 minutes later I was finally allowed to look in the mirror. I took a quick glance at myself to make sure I looked presentable but after I looked I couldn't stop staring. My dark blue hair was straightened with it braided at the top with my diamond encrusted hairpiece in the back of the braid with my veil hanging down from it. And my makeup...Oh my makeup. Mal chose a light-dark blue smokey eye and I'm assuming Jane picked the light pink blush but it still looks good and I picked a hot pink lipstick, but the finishing touch had to look the best in my opinion. My eyelashes were stuck with light blue gemstones and coated with mascara to match my smokey eye. In a summary I looked amazing.
"I look beautiful. Thanks you guys." I say touching one of the stones on my eyelashes.
"You're welcome. Now you have to walk down the aisle in like 5 minutes. So we're gonna go find our guys and you just sit here and wait for your cue. Let's go ladies." Mal said giving me a hug and walking out the door with the other girls. I examined myself in the mirror and gave my veil a slight tug adjusting it. I pulled out my phone and logged on to Twitter. I went to my profile and typed: My big day! Can't wait to marry my main man! @Dougthedwarf and posted it. Then came my cue. I grabbed my bouquet and walked towards the altar behind Audrey and Jay. When I reached the end I caught a glimpse of Jay giving Audrey a kiss and I felt a shred of disappointment. Not because I liked Jay or anything but because I knew if he started dating Audrey then I'd be losing him as a friend.
I stepped up beside Doug and we joined hands.
"Dear the beloved we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. Now before we begin does anyone have any objections as to why these two should not be married. Speak now or forever hold your peace." The minister started. We looked around the church at everyone who was silent.
Then there was a moment of hesitation before Ben said, "I object!"
"Ben what're you doing?" Mal whispered walking over to smack him.
"You guys can't get married!" He said getting in front of Doug.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because you guys haven't known each other all your lives. Because you don't know everything about each other. You don't hold each other back when one of you gets too wound up. You don't constantly remind each other how much you love them. And you don't have that sacred bond that only best friends and husband and wives have. You don't really, truly, love each other. But I know who you do love." He turned to Jay and said, "Now is your chance. Take it. Make what you want a reality."
Jay stepped up and looked at me.
"Evie I love you. I always have. I tried to bury those feelings and tried to be happy for you but I can't hide it anymore so I-" I cut him off by kissing him. Everything I'd felt over the last 2 years, the love, the passion, the anger, the regret, the happiness, everything I had I poured into that kiss. When we finally broke the kiss for air he got down on one knee and said, "Well you're in a dress and I'm in a tux. I always knew we'd end up here someday. So I don't have a ring or anything and it's a little late but....Will you marry me?" I immediately screamed, "Yes!" I looked over to find that Doug left.
"Ok looks like I'm performing a ceremony after all. So here we go. Jay repeat after me. I, Jay Laker (again made up a last name)."
"I, Jay Laker."
"Take you, Evie Carroway."
"Take you, Evie Carroway."
"To be my lawfully wedded wife."
"To be my lawfully wedded wife."
"To have and to hold."
"To have and to hold."
"From this day forward."
"From this day forward."
"For better, for worse."
"For better, for worse."
"For richer, for poorer."
"For richer, for poorer."
"In sickness, and in health."
"In sickness, and in health."
"To love, and to cherish."
"To love, and to cherish."
"Till death do us part."
"Till death do us part."
"Evie. Repeat after me. I, Evie Carroway."
"I, Evie Carroway." I was getting more emotional by the minute.
"Take you, Jay Laker."
"Take you, Jay Laker."
"To be my lawfully wedded husband."
"To be my lawfully wedded husband."
This is the moment I've waited my whole life for. I thought.
"Then by the power vested in me by the great kingdom of Auradon I now pronounce you husband and wife! Jay you may now kiss your bride."
Jay kissed me with just as much passion and ferocity as I did the first time.
We looked out at all the people before us and there wasn't a dry eye in the house as the minister said, "May I present for the first time ever Mr. and Mrs. Jay Laker!"
All our friends hugged us as we headed out of the chapel into the garden for the reception.
Jay and I headed to the dance floor as soon as they started to play "Piece by Piece" by Kelly Clarkson for our first dance. By the end of the party we were both exhausted from talking to everyone and dancing all night but we both had fun although Jay was kind of upset he didn't get to eat a lot. As the night started to wind down it was time for Mal to give her toast. She walked up on the stage and whistled to get everyone's attention.
"Hello everyone. Well I don't know about you guys but I certainly didn't expect this pair to get married tonight." She started off earning a laugh from all of us. "First I want to start off by saying congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jay Laker. Whoo! OK so most of you don't know this but I'm not only the Maid of Honor but I'm also the best friend so you're receiving two toasts for the price of one. Now I could go on and on about the memories I've had and have yet to have with these crazy kids but one particular moment stands out to me. 2 years ago when Evie came to Dragons Hall on the Isle of The Lost and she survived Cruella's Closet of Doom after I locked her in there. I knew after she came out with not a scratch on her that she was someone I wanted to be friends with. And Jay I don't even know where to start with this guy! Long story short he's pretty much been like the annoying older brother I never wanted since 4th grade but I love him. But this isn't a toast to the past it's a toast to what's to come. So here's to the future!" We all raised our glasses and shouted, "To the future!"
Afterwards me,Jay ,Ben ,Mal ,Carlos ,Jane ,Lonnie, and Audrey (because Chad decided not to go) headed to the limo that would take us to Arendalle for our honeymoon since Doug and I decided that we should make it a trip for all of us that is when we were the ones getting married. I couldn't take my eyes off of Jay my husband. Feels weird to say that but I'll get used to it. I couldn't wait to get to Arendalle I've heard it's summer there now. This trip was going to be the highlight of my new journey. This journey itself is gonna be the best thing to ever happen to me. And I couldn't wait to see what life brings our way. Whatever it was I knew we would take it on together as husband and wife.
