Loud pounding on the door startled me awake.
I opened the door as Zandra sat up. Dark sapphire blue eyes greeted me, and Mark grinned.
"You'll be crowned after breakfast." He said.
He stepped in. December sat up and rubbed her eyes, whimpering slightly. Not ready to get up.
I walked over to her side of the bed and she reached out to me.
I picked her up in my arms and wiped her tiny tears. She leaned forward against my shoulder.
"Where can I give her a bath at?" I asked.
"You'll have to take her and give her a shower when you go. Hurry. I made sure I came to wake you up since Zandra is here." He said.
"Okay, thanks."
I put clothes for both December and I in my shower bag.
I walked over to the rack and grabbed some things.
Uhm shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Uh, oh!
I also grabbed a sky blue towel and a little pink wash cloth.
Still carrying her, I headed to the showers.
Samuel waited there.
"Oh, I see you have your daughter."
"Shut up, I'm not dealing with this." I said.
I stepped into a stall and turned on the water. I gave her a shower and got her dressed. I sat her on the little bench in the stall while I showered and was grateful to be tall enough to see over the curtain to keep an eye on her.
She sat and bounced on her seat, impatient.
I laughed and she looked up.
She laughed too when she realized I could see her.
I heard Samuel give an exasperated sigh, waiting.
When I was done, I got mostly dressed in the shower and then stepped out.
"Ou tattoud! No dirt!" She said.
"No shirt?" I asked.
"Yeah!" She said laughing.
Remembering that she was right that I should leave it off, I picked her up. Grabbing the bag, I stepped out of the stall. I set her on the counter in front of the mirror that I was going to use.
"Myy mateup toooo?" She asked.
"Sure, right after mine." I had brought a little box of makeup for her from the rack of child care products.
I opened the box and put it in front of her.
"Pick some colors." I said.
I started on my eyeliner.
"So how long did you know about her but decided not to be a Dad until you needed her?" Samuel asked.
"I didn't know about her until yesterday. I instantly decided that I want to keep her, she's my daughter. I just met her yesterday but I love my little girl." I said, probably the most words he has ever heard me say to him in one response.
Except for at the dinner party about December, but that response was also to explain to everyone else who was there.
I finished my eyeliner and started on the rest of the eye makeup.
"Do you think you're even capable of raising a child?"
"Yes. I am." I said.
December looked up at my makeup.
"Do myy lite ou?" She asked.
"If you want your makeup like mine then I'll do it however you want it done." I said, smiling.
"So how are you going to be a Guardian if you have a kid to take care of?" Samuel said, bitingly.
I stayed silent for a moment and finished off my makeup with white lips.
I turned December around to face me, still sitting on the counter.
"I guess if it's not at all possible," I said looking at my daughter, "then I won't be a Guardian anymore."
"So you aren't going to just send her away?" Samuel said, his voice surprised.
"No, I won't send my baby girl away." I said.
He said nothing, just watched me do her makeup like mine. I added some different touches to her's. Like white wings going out from the corner of her little eyes.
I made the white shape her tiny lips more than I did mine. From the box, I added a light blush to her cheeks and I noticed a few pairs of earrings in there.
Yeah, her ears are pierced.
I saw a pair that made me give a small smile.
Everyone is obsessing over the white and crystal ice blue.
The earrings had a white diamond that was connected to the front of where the earring goes through. And off of the diamond, three tiny silver bars hung off at slightly different lengths with crystal ice blue jewels on them.
I took out the earrings in her ears and replaced them with the new ones.
I let her turn around and see her makeup.
She gasped.
"Myy lite it a lot!" She gasped.
I laughed and picked her up off the counter.
Samuel said nothing still as I walked out, carrying the bag after putting everything back in it.
When we got back to my room, I set her on the bed.
"Are you ready to go? Zandra will be back from her shower in a moment." Mark said.
Just then, as he finished speaking, Zandra came back in.
"No, not yet." I said.
I opened the wardrobe and searched for a dress that I remembered seeing yesterday.
Finding it, I pulled out the crystal ice blue colored dress. It had a white jewel belt design over what would be the edge of December's rib cage.
It was a flowing fabric and very soft.
December tried to take off the clothes I had put her in so she could wear the dress, but ended up falling with her shirt stuck around her shoulders.
I laughed and laid the dress on the bed.
I got her out of the shirt, careful of her makeup. She kicked her skirt off and squealed, waiting for her new dress.
I had her step into the dress and I zipped the back.
The dress touched the ground and when she spun, it flared out in a circle around her.
I put tiny white flats on her feet and she danced around laughing.
"I'm going to give you an outfit to wear today, after breakfast." Mark said.
Of course if I needed specific pants for yesterday, I would need the whole outfit for today.
It's protocol.
"Little December is going to be crowned Princess. Every Royal family has a Prince and a Princess. A tiara was made for her yesterday also." Mark said.
It's weird for me, I've lived with humans before but here the day is when it's dark outside and we sleep when the sun is out.
I know, but soon, I'm going to sit with you in the sun during the academy's night.
I smiled at Zandra.
"For meee?" December asked.
"Yes, just for you. Princess December of The Stone Dragons." Mark said.
"We're ready to go if you two are." I said.
"Let's go then."
We left and headed to the cafeteria. The room was still set up like yesterday except that the tables had white and crystal ice blue tablecloths on them and the breakfast lines were open.
We went into the line and were standing behind a tall man with straight black hair that stopped at his shoulders.
Vincent turned around and greeted all of us with a smile.
"Good morning." He said.
"Good morning to you." Mark said.
"Get Joseph some food will ya? He said he's too excited to eat, but he will eat if you bring him something."
"Yeah, sure thing."
We finally got to get our food and after we did, Mark led us to the table we ate at yesterday.
Vincent, and all of their group from yesterday were sitting there and Joseph looked up when Mark sat beside him.
"Oh, hey! Good morning!" One guy with waist length straight black hair to his waist said.
I'd say he's about 6'5" and he's well built.
Well I could tell he had to be cause I could see some muscle in his arms stretching his sleeves.
His sleeves covered his hands to his knuckles and he had big hands. His hair had nine inch bright crimson red ends.
His hair was cut like mine, which apparently how they all have it kept.
He sat beside Zandra where her father had yesterday.
When December looked over at him she bat her little white eyelashes and smiled.
"Ellu." December said to him, blushing.
"She's obviously got it bad for you." said the boy next to him.
They were obviously twins too, their only main visible difference being where the first one had crimson red, the other had white.
I had a feeling though that the first one was hiding scars on his arms.
The other was pretty buff, defined muscle covering his arms.
The first one looked at December, his dark emerald eyes making her blush even more.
"Hello." He responded, his voice smooth and about medium deep.
"Why don't you sit here and I'll sit to left of Winter so you and December can talk?" Zandra said, and she moved.
He waited a moment and put his right hand on the table. I saw his arm flex slightly as he lifted himself one seat closer.
December's tiny little mouth curled up some more and she giggled.
The guy slid his plate in front of him, I could tell he was Goth.
What is it about the color black?
Well for you, it's the same for white. So how about you answer the same question?
December picked up a piece of egg from her plate and started chewing it, looking at him.
"Ou name? Myy Deedemba." She said. "I'm Adrian Droscov." He said, smiling a small smile.
She blushed even more.
I looked between Mark and Zandra with an exasperated look and rolled my eyes.
Adrian saw, and his smile dropped.
He looked down at his plate and picked up a chocolate eclair, his finger nails perfectly painted black. He took a bite, looking off in the opposite direction of me.
December reached out and grabbed the two first fingers of his left hand from where it rested beside his plate of food.
She pulled his hand toward her.
"Whad wong?" She asked.
"Nothing." He said.
He pulled his hand away and ran it through his hair, then laid it back on the table beside his plate.
His fingers tapped the table and I noticed a certain pattern to it.
"You play piano, don't you?" I asked.
He looked at me and I caught a glimpse of frustration on his face.
It disappeared.
"Yeah, sometimes." He said, his voice short and clipped.
The Queen walked into the room. December jumped up and ran toward her and the Queen smiled. She waited by the door and picked December up when she got to her.
The Queen gave me a smile from all the way across the room and a thumbs up.
She carried December into the line with her.
"What are you angry about?" I said to Adrian.
"It's just a child's crush, all little girls get them. Seriously, you should get used to it. She will probably like me for a few weeks and then like someone else." He said, his voice surprisingly harsh.
"So what am I supposed to do? Ask you to be her boyfriend till she gets bored with you?" I asked.
"Well she would probably get over me faster that way, but that's not what I was trying to say. Do I look like a pedophile to you? I'm fifteen and she's like three." He said.
"So what am I supposed to do? If I let her date you then I'd be letting her date someone who would be a lot more advanced in relationships than she is but if I don't, I'm a mean person? What is this?!"
"What do you mean more advanced in relationships?" He asked, embarrassed.
"You've dated before, you've had your first kiss probably. Heck, maybe you're not even a virgin!" I said angrily.
"I've never done any of those. I've never even liked anybody and she is the first person that I know of to have a crush on me." He murmured quietly, glancing at me quickly from the corner of his eye.
He stared down at his plate but didn't eat and I stayed quiet for a moment.
"Now I feel like a mean person."
He still stared down. He stood up and grabbed his plate. After dumping his plate, he left.
"Yeah, I just messed up."
