I woke up at noon, in the middle of the vampire night.
A nightmare had woken me up.
I think...
What was it?
I uh, think something is wrong.
What is it baby?
I don't know.
I thought about the nightmare.
My mind seemed to slip away into someone else's.

Nails dug into my arm and I screamed. But it wasn't my voice. I tilted my head back and let another pained yell out.
She grabbed me by my hair.
The black and crimson red dangling in front of my face as she pulled up by the middle of it.
She dragged me outside.
She dragged me to the edges of the school campus. She threw me down and then dragged me back up and threw me naked against an abandoned school building.
She left me there.
Naked and covered in blood.
Barely breathing.
I was cut up worse than usual.
My face was bleeding.

I slipped back into my own mind, realizing I had been in Adrian's.
I jumped out of my bed and December heard me.
She sat up rubbing her eyes as I called Mark. Zandra had read my mind and showed up.
"Oh my goodness! He's going to die if Mark doesn't hurry up!"
"Whooooo?" December asked.
"We all have to go and we can't leave her here. You might as well tell her before we get there." Zandra said.
I sighed.
"Adrian."
December shrieked.
"Nuuu! Hew himmmmm pweade!"
"We are going to help him don't worry." I said.
"We're going to go get him." Zandra said.
"We can't take her out there. She can't see that." I said.
Mark knocked on the door, and I opened the door instantly, using my vampire speed to get there.
He had Joseph with him.
Zandra, can you stay here with December?" Mark asked.
"Yeah, I'll stay."
We left then, us three guys running with vampire speed to get there almost immediately.
Adrian heard us when we were almost to him and his head rolled to the side and he locked eyes with me, looking tired.
His eyes slowly moved to his dad.
Joseph knelt beside him.
Mark turned and moved to stand in front of me.
Without Adrian or Joseph being able to see what he handed me, he gave me a handgun.
"If you see her, or anyone else, read their mind. If they are up to no good, don't let them get close."
He then turned to Adrian and set down the bag he was carrying.
They cleaned as many of his wounds as they could out here and got out the supplies for stitches.
And I saw movement.
It was a woman, the one who hurt him.
And she planned to kill him.
I aimed the handgun at her and checked her mind again.
She had no mercy for her son.
Her or Adrian.
I pulled the trigger and she screamed and dropped.
She was dead.
I had aimed at her arm and she tried to move and I had to shoot before she ran at vampire speed...
And I got her chest.
Mark and Joseph looked to me.
Adrian groaned as he turned his head to look.
I lowered the gun.
Adrian closed his eyes.
"It was you or her. And she had a gun too." I said.
None of them spoke.
Joseph called someone and I stood shocked at what I had just done.
Three of my Guardians came outside, to where we were.
"I gave him the gun so we could safely care for Adrian. He saw a threat, he had to act." Mark said when the Guardians couldn't get a response from me.
How can they expect me to be able to speak?
Zandra sent me feelings of strength.
"He's dying!" Joseph yelled.
"Can you use your magic? They started me on the shot yesterday to cut mine off for now." Mark asked Joseph.
"No, and he's dead! No! No! No!" Joseph cried.
I slowly stepped to the other side of Adrian's body, blood covered and still.
I slowly reached down to him, Joseph and Mark not seeing me.
I can bring him back, but I don't have the strength to heal him.
Baby, do you think you can handle that?
I touched his face.
Yes.
He gasped, his eyes flying open.
He yelled in pain, but his eyes caught mine.
I felt my mind split open again, bonding to his.
Joseph looked from where Mark held him, trying to comfort him.
Joseph and Mark hurried back to work on him, stitching and bandaging him.
They looked at me, after working on him for about an hour.
They had him ready and able to be moved.
"I'm sorry, I don't have enough strength. To heal you and I'm sorry." I whispered.
I was starting to feel extremely weak, and tired.
"Thank you." Adrian struggled to say to me.
"Take him to my room. You can clean him up there and he can rest."
I knew that he only had a room at his mom's campus suite.
They carried him and the three if my Guardians who were there took care of his mom's body.
December was on her bed and Zandra sat with her.
Adrian was put on my bed after they put him in the shower, and washed him.
He was awake but to injuries to move very much.
I had had to shoot his mother.
And he felt more safe now.
Because she can't torture him anymore.
December crawled up onto my bed beside him and put her hand on his face.
He flinched, so she took her hand away.
His face had many stitches, and was bandaged.
He had broken bones and stab wounds on his abdomen.
December curled up in a little ball to his left side.
He slowly lifted his left hand, I felt his pain through the bond.
He moved and placed his hand on her hair, and let his arm go limp again.
She yawned.
"Go to sleep." He croaked.
She snuggled closer to him, and fell to sleep quickly.
He just lay there, and wanting sleep, with what she did to him replaying in his head.
Calm down, you should sleep too.
So should you.
He locked eyes with me.
Seriously. Sleep, man.
Why?
Because you just brought me back. You're tired.
I'll be fine.
All of our friends and group had showed up and they kept looking at me.
I wasn't getting in trouble for shooting Mrs. Anderson, because she was going to kill him.
Her body was to be burned, so none of her contacts could bring her back.
Most Vhramgorion are burned, especially if they committed crimes before their death.
Everyone suddenly crowded me.
"Are you okay?" Joseph asked.
"Someone get him something to eat!" Mark yelled.
"He's the reason we still have Adrian..." I heard the Queen whisper.
"Winter? Baby, breathe!" Zandra exclaimed.
The world seemed to dance with stars and I heard Zandra and Adrian in my head, trying to keep me awake.
I passed out laying on my floor.
