Thirsty

I woke up when the sun went down, beginning the Vampire day.
I turn my head to the side to realize I'm on my own bed now.
Adrian was to the right of me, about three feet away.
I reached my hand out to move his hair, to see his face.
Maybe I can heal some of the cuts...
His eyes shot open.
"Don't heal me." He said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because you passed out after healing me last night."
"But that was after bringing you back... This is just a healing, it should be fine." I said.
"No. I'm not going to be the reason something happens to you. I can't. I'll be fine, I'll heal. Don't worry so much, okay?" He said.
I looked around.
"Zandra took her to shower. Some of my blood got on her... I'm sorry."
"Small healings will be okay, I can help you." I muttered.
"You already have helped me."
Zandra came back with December, and I stopped trying to convince Adrian.
December ran to the bed and grabbed my left hand.
She pressed my palm to the side of her face.
She smiled at me and then let go, climbing onto the bed.
She laid down between Adrian and I, holding a hand from each of us.
I looked over at her little hand in his, and I smiled.
You're a great person. Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope she doesn't get sick of you.
He laughed out loud and so did Zandra.
Mark and Joseph burst into my room, one with food.
The other had shots, pills, and other medical supplies.
Ugh.
Most of those are for me.
I felt a mental cringe from him.
His dad walked to Adrian and set down his medical supplies and grabbed Adrian's arm. He proceeded to inject Adrian with all but three of the nine shots he had.
"These three are for you, Winter." Joseph said.
He grabbed my arm and gave one in my forearm and the other two in my bicep.
Mark then came over and handed me a plate, and I realized how truly hungry I was.
It was a ham and cheese omelet with toast and fruit salad as sides.
He handed one to Zandra and set two aside and made a plate for himself.
He held his hands out to December to pick her up, a then set her at a little white painted table.
He put a small omelet on a plate and she smiled as he placed it in front of her, with a fork.
I started scarfing down the food, hearing Mark laugh at my reaction to an omelet.
"We made them, the school sucks at making omelets. There are more if that doesn't fill you up." Mark said, still laughing.
I garbled out a thank you around bites of food.
I finished all of mine before Zandra even ate half of her plate.
I still felt hungry.
Mark took my plate and put two more omelets on the plate, not bothering with toast or fruit salad.
Joseph sat Adrian up and set a plate on his lap, the same as my original.
Adrian ate like I had, but seemed more desperate.
Mark and Joseph stood and ate.
After we all finished, December climbed back up and hugged me then Adrian.
Still hugging him, she leaned back and looked at him.
She seemed sad.
"No, no, no. No. Don't be sad." He said, quickly.
She touched one of the bandages on his face.
No! You can't be sad, please cheer up.
Give her a kiss.
He glanced at me.
I nodded.
Get your first kiss. Go ahead, its innocent.
He leaned toward her and kissed her tiny lips, his hiding her mouth.
She blushed and the rest of us "Aw'd" and laughed.
After the small kiss, December sat and giggled like crazy.
Oh! Its so cute! Aw!
Yeah. Its adorable and she's happy.
I hope y'all aren't mocking me.
We aren't.
My eyes met his and I smiled.
"I'm considering this official now. My first son's first girlfriend." Joseph said.
I noticed that they had a lot more omelets under a serving lid.
Loud and fast bangs sounded on my door and as soon as Joseph opened it, two people burst in.
Jake and Maxwell.
Maxwell ran to his brother's side, looking at his injuries.
He instantly looked angry.
"How is she going to be punished?! She nearly killed him!" He yelled, he voice deep as ever.
"She did kill me." Adrian said.
"Then how are you still here." Maxwell said, his voice changing to being gentle.
"Winter brought me back, but he doesn't have the strength to heal my injuries."
"I would be able to if you would just let me." I said.
"No, I'll heal."
"How is she getting paid back?" Maxwell whispered.
"When she came back to finish me off, Winter... Shot her. She had a gun and was going to kill them too. She died." Adrian said.
"You saved them and you brought my twin back. Thank you." Maxwell said to me.
I nodded and smiled, and I somehow felt hungry and weak again.
Mentally and physically.
"Daddy, Winter needs--" Adrian started, but I shook my head.
"Needs what?" Joseph asked.
"Nothing." He said.
"Tell me."
I suddenly realized that I was thirsty, not hungry.
"Blood." Adrian said.
Joseph had a "duh" moment and asked if I could walk.
I stood up and walked to where he was.
He gestured for me to follow him, and he led me to the Guardian Dorm.
"Student blood stations are closed for another hour. So you'll drink from one of our donors and we will take two of them back for everyone in the room to get blood." Joseph said.
We walked in silence.
"You do know that you won't really be able to be a guardian anymore, right?" Joseph asked.
"Yeah, I guess I've already realized it. Because I'm a dad now. I still wish I could though. I really wanted to be Zandra's Guardian."
The campus was still quiet. No one was out and about yet, save the two of us.
The light breeze carried sharp yet soft scents of oak trees and cedar.
There were others also, and I also caught the crisp water and the damp smell of mossy stone.
I could hear crickets.
"Maybe when December is grow, you can be a guardian." He said quietly.
We reached the Guardian dorm, where their blood station was held.
We walked in and he talked to the lady behind the counter.
I looked around at the dark waiting room.
The walls were all a different shade of brown, and one was dark orange.
This was the wall with the hall to different feeding rooms.
There were many cushioned seats in here, none of the cold hard chairs that fill the many different student stations.
The tiled floor, dark red.
Joseph came over to me.
"Come this way."
And I followed.
Once in a room, he shut the door.
"Drink." He said, gesturing to a man in a chair.
The man looked to be in his late twenties.
I stepped up to him, and I didn't bother to sit next to him.
I leaned over his neck.
My fangs pierced into his throat.
Blood flowed across my tongue.
"I think that your venom causes a stronger effect. Probably goes along with having twelve fangs instead of four." Joseph said.
I finished drinking, and wiped my mouth.
The man was completely dazed.
Joseph also drank and we walked back to the room with two different donors.
I laid back down on my bed.
