Jack's POV

I was so lost in Hiccup that I nearly forgot what we were doing.

"Hiccup! What have we been doing? We have to get out of here!" I stood up and put on my shirt in a shocked haste, Hiccup getting up slowly in unhappy confusion.

"Oh come on Jack, we didn't lose that much time," he said, annoyed.

"Are you kidding?! It's 4am! We've been gone for six hours! They were expecting us five hours ago! We could've lost our connection!" I stressed. I saw Hiccup's annoyed expression melt away, replaced by worry as strong as mine.

"Oh my god you're right. Let's go. Now."

Hiccup's POV

Lost our connection? Lost our one chance to be free?! I don't care so much about being free, I'm okay with being trapped, at least temporarily. But the thought of not giving Jack the chance to look out on the city from a rooftop, the thought of us not kissing under the northern lights, or the Eiffel tower, or Niagara falls, I couldn't leave that behind. I put on my clothes as quick as I could and followed him down the sewer pipe, him walking at a nervously fast pace.

"I'm so sorry, I completely forgot-"

"No, it's fine. It's my fault too," he replied. "Let's just focus on getting out of here." Just as he finished his last word, I heard the boom of a footstep behind us.

"Hey, did you hear something?" Jack asked just before I covered his mouth with my hand. I heard another step, and an unfamiliar voice.

"There's someone down there, Carl."

"Hey, I think you're right. Let's check it out."

Jack's POV

We both broke out into a petrified sprint, slipping on the ground as we cut corners. Hiccup strode ahead of me, his powerful legs out matching mine. I struggled to keep up, him getting farther and farther away from my grasp. As I watched him round another corner, I knew I couldn't run any longer. I stopped and put my hand on the wall, breathing heavily and sinking to the floor. I had given up.

Hiccup's POV

Everything's around me melted as I ran. I could only think of getting out, taking Jack to freedom. The walls turned to dust, and the ceiling gave way to the sky. Everything became black and white, and I just ran. I ran through the abyss, not once stopping to look back. We had to escape. We had to live.

Jack's POV

I looked up at the two men who were going to be taking me away, tears bubbling in the edges of my eyelids.

"Who are you," one of them inquired.

"Please don't hurt me."

"What is your name, boy." He said again. This time furrowing his brow. His face was large and intimidating, his crosses arms showing off his huge biceps. He towered over me, the top of his head probably six and a half feet above the ground. On the other hand, his partner was much shorter, almost a foot shorter, and his build was scrawny we and his face was lean and trembling.

"I'm not telling you. Please, just don't take me away."

"Tell me your name! Now!" Shouted the man, picking me up with both his hands and staring into my eyes. His nostrils flared as he breathed like a bull, the hot air brushing against my cheeks causing me to cringe.

"My name is Jack Frost. Are you happy now?"

"Not quite. Who was that boy? The one that ran off?" The mention of Hiccup pained my chest. He had left me for dead. Yet I wouldn't ever take away his freedom, not for anything.

"I'll never tell you. Not if you beat me, not if you kill me."

"Then we'll have to do this the hard way." His partner handed him a large syringe, and I felt a sharp pain in my arm and a scream escape my lips before I blacked out.

Hiccup's POV

As I ran, I began to think. Why am I running? I can't even hear their footsteps anymore. As a matter of fact, I only hear my own. And then I realized.

The walls reconstructed and the ceiling reformed, and my mind exited it's state of lucid dreaming and back into reality. I had left him.

"Jack!" Fuck! "JACK!" Fucking hell! "JACK!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!!" WHAT HAD I DONE?!!!
