Hiccup's POV

Jack looked up at me in shock and awe, stars in his eyes and wonder in his heart. I cut the ropes holding his hands together and burned the chains holding his feet off with a blowtorch. As soon as he was free, he tackled me, laughing childishly, forcing me to the ground. I could feel his perfect smile as he kissed me, laughing between kisses. I savored the moment, knowing this wasn't going to happen again for a long time. We had a fight ahead of us, and it wasn't a pretty one. So I just kissed him back, passion flowing through my blood, his lips as soft as cherry blossoms. I held him close and laughed along with him, losing time but gaining everything else.

"You... came back for me," he said, smiling bright.

"I couldn't ever live with myself if I let you go," I replied, honesty ringing in my words.

"I love you so much," he chirped, kissing me one final time.

"I love you too, but there won't be someone for you to love if we don't go."

"What do you mean?"

"I'll explain on the way. Come on," I said, him getting up off of me and helping me up. I jumped off of the van into the back of the Jeep, and motioned for him to do the same.

Jack's POV

He wanted me to jump off the van?! Was he insane? This is the man I've chosen to love, I suppose.

"Hiccup, I can't do this!" I yelled, terrified.

"You have to! I know you can do it babe, remember when you jumped on the cage when we were back in the correctional facility? You were so brave then... I couldn't have ever done anything like that! Come on!" A surge of confidence overtook me when he said those words, and I jumped without hesitation. I felt his sturdy arms encase me as I landed, his hands catching my back and keeping me close to his warm chest.

"See, I told you." He said, looking down at me, smiling subtly. But by the way he clung onto me when I landed, I could tell he wasn't quite sure.

"We have to get going," he said with haste. He opened the door on the car's roof and dropped down inside, and I followed. Out the window I could see the two guys who were driving the van screaming at us and accelerating. I felt the car we were in roar down the highway, blasting at speeds only race cars can reach. I was thrown into the back of the seat, suddenly very thankful to be in the back of the Jeep instead of on the top of it. Hiccup was flung back with me, us both taken aback by the sudden acceleration. As soon as we were far enough away from the two of them, I asked about the driver.

"Who's driving this thing?" I asked Hiccup, him still a little shocked. He took a second to register my question, and responded diligently,

"Jack, say hello to Cass and Abigail."

"Name's Cass," the woman driving the truck introduced herself. Her hair was light brown and semi-long, a black motorcycle jacket draped around her shoulders and a box of doughnuts on the dashboard, about half of which had been eaten. She looked about 17 or 18, although she sounded older.

"And I'm Abigail! Hi!" The girl in the passenger's seat said with a smile, looking back at me and waving. She seemed to be around 13 years old, leaving me to wonder what she was doing here.

"They're from the High School Heisters, the group that Astrid and Elsa were in," Hiccup explained. "They're going to help us escape the law."

Hiccup's POV

"That's right," Cass said, chewing on a doughnut.

"You still haven't told me how though," I said, impatient.

"We'll get to that," Cass replied, pulling off the highway.

"First, we have to get to the dock."

"Why? Are we going on a boat?" Jack asked, curious.

"Exactly. We're going to San Francisco." San Francisco! She hadn't told me we were going there!!! I had always wanted to go to California! I had been living in Seattle my whole life, so this will be a very nice change.

"Wow, really?" I could tell Jack was excited too, he moved to the edge of his seat and leaned forward, obvious signs of giddy.

"Yeah, but don't get too excited yet boys. There's a lot we have to do first. Abigail?"

"Oh yeah! Well, since we kinda can't get on a boat legally, we have to sneak on, and we also have to get the others first, and bring them with us." The others?

"Who are the others?" Jack and I said in unison.

"You've met them all already. Elsa, Astrid, Merida, and Hans. They've all escaped and are waiting for us at a gas station just south of here. We have to get them quick though, the police are already on to them," Cass answered. A lot of things worried me about that particular answer, especially the part about the police, but I didn't say anything. Instead I looked at Jack with wide eyes, and he did the same.

"So... what are we going to do once we get there?" Jack asked, nervousness hinted in his voice.

"We're going to freeze you."

Jack's POV

"Freeze us?!! Do you mean cryogenically? That isn't possible! At least not yet... this is crazy!" I yelled at them, distressed at the idea.

"Stop freaking out, Frost," Cass replied, as I saw her roll her eyes from the mirror in the front seat. "We've got it all figured out. Professor Callaghan knows what he's doing."

"He's my dad!" Abigail exclaimed.

"Okay... assuming that that would actually work... how are we all going to sneak on a boat?" Hiccup inquired.

"We're not all going to get on one boat. We'll pair off and each go on a different one. There's a fleet of small boats heading from here to Los Angeles in about two hours, which is ideal for our situation. I'm going to drug the sailors so that about halfway through we can take over control of the boats to make sure they go to San Francisco instead. We won't hurt them, just put them into a temporary coma. We can also wake them up whenever we want with a serum," Cass explained effortlessly. "I've got this figured out, boys. You've forgotten that I'm part of an advanced society built on getting results. You should know that."

Cass was something else. She was strong and firm, always knowing what was going on and where to go. I hadn't ever met anyone so sure of anything. I could tell Hiccup thought the same thing by the way he darted his eyes back and forth from me to Cass and back again.

"Sounds like a plan!" Abigail said, sticking her arm out the front window.

Hiccup's POV

About a half hour later we arrived at a small gas station. At first I wasn't sure why because we had plenty of gas, but then I thought back to what Cass had said about picking up the others. Just then, I caught a glimpse of Elsa's bright platinum hair behind a dumpster. She and Astrid crept out from behind it, making their way to the car. Hans and Merida came from the other direction, not getting into the backseat but rather going into the trunk as there wasn't much space. Elsa and Astrid stuffed themselves into the back with Jack and I, all of us sharing quick greetings before we rode off again in silence, searching for our freedom.
