Chapter 20

Alyssa P.O.V.

"Hey hon., how do Sierra like her new house?" Michael asked me as soon as I got down the stairs. Well I wasn't expecting that. But since were off topic lets keep it like that.

"Oh, she loves it there already. They're pretty nice." I said involving him in a hug. I was about to let go of him he but he didn't let go of me. He held me tightly in place. I looked over at his face and his eyes were black like you were looking into a bottomless pit.

"Why do you smell like blood?"

"What?"

"Why do you smell like blood?" he repeated again. Here we go!

"Yeah, about that..... You see I have this friend." I explained as his gaze never felt mine. I started walking into the kitchen and he followed closely behind.

"He got jumped and right now, badly injured." I stopped I didn't wanna go any farther than I already had. I looked outside the kitchen window starring at particularly nothing. I could see that Nickolas was standing directly behind me from the reflection in the window.

"Alyssa, stop staling. Tell me why you smell like blood." he said as he tried controlling his anger.

"Don't rush me!" I said turning around to face him with my arms over my chest.

"Alyssa!"

"What!" I yelled back.

I signed deeply and looked at me, his eyes turning back to their dark green color. "You know I can easily read your mind right? But I trust you so I'm not." he said. Aw, that was sweet of him. "But I will if I have to." he added shortly.

"Didn't you just say that you trusted me a second ago?"

"Yes"

"So if you trusted me you will respect my decision on no telling you. Matter of fact I was going to tell you but now I'm in a bed mood." I said my face serious. "What kind of mate are you?"

"One that wants to know why you smell like blood." he responded with the same tone. Fine! The sooner I say it the sooner I can get over his reaction to what I'm gonna say.

"My friend got jumped and I felt bad for him when I saw him laying on the front steps waiting for me to get home. He's all bruised up and weak and I felt bad so I offered him to stay her for tonight." I sad quickly. But with out a doubt in my mind I knew Nickolas heard me and I wasn't going to repeat myself.

I quickly walked around him and out the kitchen I wasn't even at the steps when Nickolas appeared right in front of me.

"Him?" he asked as his eyes were blanked from any emotion.

"Yes him."

"And where is he right now?"

"My room."

"Is that were you gonna let him sleep?" he asked.

"Look, he's just a friend and plus I own him. He's the guy that walked me home when I felt you because you won't tell me your big secret. He's the one that made sure I got home safe with out getting raped! So can you just eave me alone about him?"

I ran up the steps thinking he would flow but he didn't. When I went into my room I made as little noise as possible being careful not to wake Devin up. Once the door was closed I locked it so that Nickolas couldn't get in. As if locks will keep him out.

I turned to the bed and there sitting up starring at me was Devin. "I thought you were asleep." I said walking over to my closet so that I could change into some P.J.'s. Even though I closed the closet door behind me I could still hear him loud and clear.

" I was but I woke up when I heard yelling. " silence. " I was about to come down to see if you were ok."

I quickly changed my close and put the close I was previously wear in the hamper. " Well now you can go back to sleep, now that you see I'm fine." I said.

I walked over to the bed and took some pillows off the bed and grabbed a sheet from the closet all while he watched me.

I open up the sheets and laid them on the floor before putting the pillow down on top of it. "What are you doing?" I asked Devin. He was standing near the sheets I laid on the floor lean up against the bed so that he won't lose his balance.

"I'll sleep on the floor. I don't want you to sleep on the floor in your own house." he said.

"No your hurt, you sleep on the bed." I told him as I pushed him back so that he was sitting on the bed. "I'm fine, I just want you to get better." Surprisingly he pulled me down onto his lap with his good hand.

"I'm a gentleman, I don't let girls sleep on the floor while I'm sleeping in a warm comfortable bed. So if your not sleeping on the bed and I'm not sleeping on the bed. I guess we're both sleeping on the floor." he said and for the first time tonight he smiled even though I knew I cause him pain.

I tried not rubbing against his abs's since they were one thing on him at was bruised. I opened my mouth to regret his offer but I pulled off his lap and into someone's chest.

" You can sleep in her bed and she's going to sleep with me." a husky voice said from behind me. I knew exactly who it was and I couldn't argue with him. His house hi rule.

Devin looked from him to me with a sad expression on his face that slowly faded. "Well good nigth Alyssa." he said before Nickolas tugged me out the room with out me returning his goodnight. Once we were in his room I snapped at him.

"What was that!"

"That was me watching some teenage boy flirting with my mate!" he yelled.

"Oh my god! He wasn't flirting with me! He was being nice."

"To nice" Nickolas shoot back.

"Listen buddy, you don't own me! You can't tell me what to do with my life."

"But you're my mate you suppose to----" But I cut him off.

"Your making me regret ever agreeing to this!" I shouted and that sure did shut him up. He looked stud, frozen in place. I was about to apologize about my out burst but he shook his head.

"Let's just go to sleep." I he before walking over to the bed and laying down. I followed his lead but when the lights were off he didn't touch me. He didn't even wrap his arms around my waist. I felt like I was sleeping alone. I really hurt him now and that make me sad.
