Chapter 18:
Hazel POV:
On the way back that night I was only thinking if I had done the right decision and I kept getting curious glances from Zayn which was sitting in the passenger seat and I was sitting behind Louis because Harry was sitting behind Zayn's seat and Jesy in the middle. Jesy knew, obviously. I had told her the minute we left Niall's house and out of anyone's ear shot.
She said that I'll start to get the feeling of 'fireworks exploding' by time but I knew that it wouldn't. I was sure because that one time I had shortly kissed Zayn for those three seconds at Harry's party, I had that feeling and my lips tingled the second I pushed him away, only wanting more but I knew that it was wrong.
It felt wrong with Chase but I couldn't tell him that. Maybe it was right and it was all in my imagination. I mean you don't have to always get that feeling right? Or did you? Or maybe not ... Do you have to get that feeling to know that it's right or it's not necessary? Or maybe it is.
"Hazel!" Harry and Zayn both screamed my name and I slightly jumped in shock and detached myself from my thoughts.
"What?" I asked confused.
"About time," Zayn said, rolling his eyes, his torso turned around to look at me. Apparently Louis had dropped off Jesy and I hadn't noticed. "We've called your name three times."
I rolled my eyes. "What did you want?"
"What's up with you?" Harry butted in. "You look ... dreamy."
I arched one eyebrow at him and chuckled. "I'm fine."
"If you say so," Harry said and the car stopped and I noticed we had arrived in front of Zayn's house.
"You're staying over at Zayn's?" Louis asked sounding tired.
"Parents in Ireland," I mumbled while unbuckling the seat belt and opening the car door. "Night Lou, Haz. See you tomorrow at school."
"Night Hazel," Harry chirped in, sounding energetic. I chuckled and slammed the door shut and straightened my jacket and waited for Zayn to say his goodbyes and open the gate. It was already around 1 in the morning and I was extremely tired and I had to wake up at around 6.30 tomorrow.
Zayn walked towards me and the gate and Louis' car drove off while Zayn opened the gate and the both of us walked up the driveway silently. He silently opened the front door, careful to not make any noise. He closed the door and locked it silently, then hung the keys on the key hangers next to the front door.
"You thirsty?" he whispered, his voice making me jump in the darkness.
"Yeah," I replied and he twined his fingers with mine and led me to the kitchen through the darkness. When he let go of my hand his touch left tingles on my skin and I stopped myself from smiling. He turned on a switch and lights shone beneath the top cupboards, giving the kitchen some light. I couldn't exactly see his face in the dimly lighted room but I could see enough to see that he looked tired and slightly pissed off. He opened one of the top drawers and took out two glass cups and a 2L bottle of cold water from the two door-fridge. He filled both of them and slid a glass cup across the marble counter top of the island. I had to slightly bend forwards on the island to get the glass cup.
By the time I had started drinking the water, he had already drank his and was leaning on the kitchen counter next to the fridge, studying me. I put the cup down and looked at him with one eyebrow arched at him.
"What?" I asked him when he didn't say anything.
"What's up with you and Chase?" he asked, quickly getting to the point. I was slightly taken aback by his forwardness.
