I remember my Mother telling me
Honesty was the best policy,
Shame she never
Practiced what she preached.
I remember my Father telling me
To respect my Mother,
The day before
She betrayed him, again.
I remember my maths teacher telling me
I would never
Count for anything,
I employed an accountant.
I remember the Vicar telling me
That God saw all our actions,
I wonder if God saw his actions
With young boys?
I remember a Politician telling me
That his role was
To help the community,
While he helped himself.
I remember my lover telling me
She could never love another,
That was,
Until she did.
So, where is this truth
We hear so much about?
