I sat and watched the news,
Mesmerised.
The throngs had congregated
To watch two Popes
Celebrated.
Hordes of red robed Cardinals
Hatted
Thankfully no calves
Fatted.
Thousands of clerics
And Nuns
In colourful garb,
Swiss Guards in their finery
All before a white dove
On a throne.
I could not help
But wonder
At the immense cost
Of it all, and how many children
Had starved in the world
Before one human being
Had designated two others
As Saints?
