I seem to have spent my life wandering,
Nothing matched,
Jacket different to trousers,
Odd socks,
Shoes that never seemed to fit.
I got on well enough,
I suppose,
Clothes were never
That important
To me.
My commercial life was different,
I was focussed,
Ruthless,
Angry,
I needed to win.
But, through all of this,
I was lost,
I never thought
Of the cost
To a soul that was barren.
The concept of happiness
Left,
I seemed bereft
Of the capacity
To love.
Then, suddenly,
Seemingly, out of the blue,
Came you,
Fresh, challenging,
Rearranging the status quo.
Now,
I look forward
To each new day,
In a way,
I never have before.
