When I was young,
Much younger than today.
My mother sent us to religious school
On Sunday afternoons.
She was certainly not religious,
But it gave her space
To practice carnal sin
In private.
The teacher told us God had a plan
For each and every one of us,
She did not know what it was,
And punished us for asking.

Recently, in the city of Houston,
A deluge has caused chaos.
Killing many
And displacing many more.
God has a plan.
In Syria children are dying by the day.
Children lose parents,
Parents lose children,
Most lose hope.
God has a plan.
In Nigeria kidnapped schoolgirls
Raped and sold.
The government
Hordes its gold.
God has a plan.
In Bangladesh, Nepal, and India
Monsoons have claimed countless lives.
Those that were poor
Are now destitute.
God has a plan.
In the west,
Politicians squabble
In the warm.
Getting fat on the backs of others.
God has a plan.
Some plans work.
Others fail.
I wonder if God's plan
Needs reworking??
