A gentle shaking on my shoulder woke me up. I was back in the car, safe, with Allen driving on the highway.

"hey you okay?" he asked concerned.  I sat up in the seat and fixed my messy hair.

"Yeah, just a bad dream" I say shakily.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked looking at me.

"I don't remember it really" i say and it was true i didnt remember the dream at all besides the feeling of being scared, very scared. Allen nodded and we drove in silence for a while.

"Hey Veronica do you mind if i ask a question?"

"Hmm?" I say and look at him

"Do you have any family? because if you do im sure they would want to see you"

"It sounds like you want me to leave" I say turning to looking at him

"No! no, i don’t want you leave!" he rushed on reasuredly

"Its just that you were out for a long time and i was just curious"

"How long was i out for?" I ask

"almost two weeks" he said

"oh" I say somewhat at loss for words

"And to answer your original question, i don't have any family. not that i know of" I say quietly.

"Well, i’m sure you can stay with us, as long as you need to" He said with a smile.

"Thanks, that means a lot" I say as I look at him. Allen nods and pulls the car to a stop. I quickly look up and realize that we were back at Allen's house.

As  Allen and I step out of the car a white flake falls on my nose. I look up to see that its snowing gently. I look over at Allen who is trying to catch a snowflake with his tongue. I laugh as I see him unsuccessfully trying to catch a certain snowflake with the tip of his tongue. The front door of the house opens and a warm glow of light illuminates the steps leading up to the house. Angie comes running out to Allen with icing smeared on her nose. Allen picks her up and wipes the icing off.

"Hey Angie, smells like you guys have been baking"

"Yup, its a surprise" She said

"It smells really good..." I say my mouth slightly salivating at the rich smells as we enter the house. All of a sudden Angie stops abruptly and whirls around.

"Now you guys cant come into the kitchen ok? not in till were ready for you, 'kay?"

"Aw cant we take a peek?" asks Allen sweetly

"Nope"

"Its ok Angie me and Allen wont come into the kitchen" I say Slightly pulling on Adams arm. Allen briefly looks at me and nods 'defeatedly' to his little sister. Who, satisfied heads back into the kitchen.

"We'll be out okay mom?" Allen yells and heads out the door as his mother replies yelling over the kitchen clamor. I follow Allen out of the house and down a worn out path into a forest. The Path slowly fades out and we arrive at a river bank. As I look around I notice that there is a log that has been worn down from years of people sitting on it and a fire pit . As I head towards the log i notice that the fire pit embers were still warm. I kneel down and gently blow into the embers and watched them grow brighter, i kept blowing in till the heat from the embers ignited a log and a small fire was born. As i sit on the log Allen returns caring a pile of chopped wood.

"Nice work" He says to me as he sees the fire ablaze and sets a couple of pieces of in a teepee formation. Then he sits back on the log beside me with a small sigh of contentment.
