3 years later-
'Good morning beautiful', Virat said kissing Aarushi on her forehead.'Hmm, love you', she replied still in sleep.
'Get up, lazy head. We have to go to your house today. It's Ajinkya's birthday today', Virat said moving in to take a bath.
'Oh, no did we wish him yesterday, I mean midnight', she asked all panicked.
'We did Aarushi and you were all sleepy even then', Virat replied from inside the restroom.
'Yeah, yeah make all the fun you want', she said getting up.
She went to the kitchen and made some coffee for herself and came back looking at herself in the mirror. She looked beautiful, in the colour of love. She had been happily married to Virat for an year now and she was not aware how this time had passed. It was only yesterday when she was fighting the world for this to work out and today she was the most envied girl because she had probably ended up with the most desirable man. Virat, however, thought differently. He had told her umpteen times that he had ended up in a relationship of his lifetime. For the first time, he believed in destiny. Aarushi was his. And he was hers. What else was needed to be had? For the moment, they had what they had wanted the most. And for that, they were thankful.
'Aaru, I know you are all pretty but early in the morning? I mean, self obsession can wait. Can't it?', Virat disturbed her in her thoughts. He had just come out of the shower.
Aarushi turned around and gave him one of her irritated looks.
'We should love ourselves. Only then can we love someone else', she replied with a smirk.'Ok, miss philosopher. Are you going to get ready? Our flight leaves in less than 4 hours and aren't you aware of the Delhi traffic?', Virat said buttoning his shirt.
'Hmm, you are so excited about my brother's birthday. What is it, Virat? Did he invite Anushka too?', Aarushi asked playfully.
'Yeah, you know what we might as well go for a date. She is still single. Maybe, she is waiting for me, you know. A person like me is unforgettable', he answered her in a similar fun tone.
'Ok, great then. Maybe I'll stay back in Mumbai for some time then. You can have fun with your mistress. Ok?'
'Yeah, sure. Why not?', Virat said a smile creeping on to his face. He knew what was coming next.
'Do not enter this bed again then. Fine with you?', Aarushi said sternly.
'So, now this is all my fault? You started it', he said the smile not leaving his face.
'Well, you had the responsibility of finishing it, not enjoying it', she told him.
'Aaru, go get dressed', Virat just added casually.
'The hell I am going to', she remarked and leaving her coffee unattended dashed to the cupboard.
Virat sipped the coffee that she had made and looked at her. She looked so cute when in rage, he wondered. Aarushi took at least 15 minutes to decide what she was going to wear. She was actually trying to irritate him but Virat was in a good frame of mind. He was hardly disturbed by all this. He was enjoying the coffee. She gave her one of her deadliest stares and got in to bathe. Virat's family had gone for a holiday and the both of them were all alone in the house. So, Virat had nothing to do. He went outside the room and saw the newspaper. Their dog was trained to bring in the newspaper from outside. It was his regular job. He patted the dog, tucked the newspaper beneath his arm and moved outside. It was the month of June. It was too hot to even be outside. Even at 7:30 in the morning, it felt like it was afternoon. He came back inside, turned on the air conditioner and sat down to relax reading the newspaper.
Aarushi took almost half an hour to bathe.
'So what's the latest news?', she asked him drying her hair.'Nothing, just one man committed suicide after being harassed by his wife', Virat said with a grin.
'Haha, very funny. I am sorry, ok. I was joking.'
'You were?', Virat came close to her and held her by her waist.
'I know you love me the most. And that Anushka should forget you if she hasn't already. You are all mine', she said giving him a kiss on his cheek.
'Aarushi, why are girls so senti?', he asked looking into her eyes.
'I don't know. Maybe because you are not and someone needs to be that in a relationship. Now, get away. Let me dry my hair', she said pushing him aside.
'See, no one is in the house. And there are still three hours. What about having a good round of just you and me together?', Virat winked.
'Shut up, don't get too excited', she replied.
'You know what, I'll remember this. You wait until you say the same thing to me and I promise you I'll show you my tantrum.'
'Yeah, yeah we'll see', Aarushi smiled.
'Aaru, which shirt do you think I should wear this evening? Looking at me, I think your choice is quite good', Virat asked her.
'I have already kept the lavender one. And who is being self obsessive now?'
'You told me it is good to love yourselves', he reiterated innocently.
Aarushi thought it was best to remain silent. She had had enough of this conversation. She was smiling, though. They were perfect as two kids. They did not know the complications of life because they had each other with them. They needed none of the flak the world had to offer. It was as if a dream had come true and both were determined to keep it alive forever.
