Newt Imagine

Zelda's POV

These boys are going to be the death of me. The new Greenie is on their way up and I'm stuck looking for Ben. Why me? I tromped around the dead heads as if someone would see the obvious spectacle I was making about being asked to do stuff.

If felt like forever when I heard a twig snap behind me. Gotcha. I thought. I turned around and sure enough there was Ben. He was showing obvious signs if being stung but I already knew that. Heck I'm the one who found him stung in the maze two days ago.

"Hiya Ben!" I said with mock enthusiasm. "Its time to go back to the Homestead."

He unleashed an unnatural scream before charging towards me. I immediately took off running back the way I came. So much for being reasonable.

I burst into the Glade screaming, "I found him!! If any of you shanks want to lend a hand!" And of course they were all quite a ways away still. I tripped over a shovel someone left out. Shucking Track-Hoes need to keep their equipment in the garden.

I felt a huge weight on top of me as I was flipped over. Ben was looming over me and I swear I saw foam coming out if his mouth. He started mumbling incoherent sentences.

"Ben get off of me! I'm your friend! Its me, Zelda!!" That only seemed to make him more angry. He gripped my throat and started choking me. I gasped for breath and tried to break his grip. "Some...one...help....me!" I tried to yell.

I started to slip out of consciousness when the weight on me was gone and I was being dragged away from it. I opened my eyes to see Newt holding my arms. I looked around and Ben was being restrained by about 6 Gladers.

"T-Thank you N-Newt," I managed before blacking out.

I awoke later in the Medjack room of the Homestead. I groaned as I sat up. My chest and stomach felt bruised like I'd been punched a few hundred times.

"You're awake!" said a voice next to me. I turned to see Newt sitting next to my bed. "You gave us quite a scare there."

"I'll try to be more careful next time I'm searching for stung Gladers." I said sarcastically.

"Haha well I'll keep that in mind then." Someone knocked on the door and walked in. It was Chuck and who I'm assuming is the new Greenie.

"Hey Newt, the Greenie was asking for you." He said then left.

"Come sit down Greenie," I said gesturing to the extra chair. "Hope these shanks haven't scared you too much."

"Not really." He said quietly.

"Names Zelda by the way. What's yours?"

"I don't remember."

"Well it'll come back to you in a few days."

Newt picked that moment to chime in on the conversation. "Hey why don't you tell the Greenie about your job in the Glade."

"Alright well you see I'm a Runner. Which means I risk my neck everyday so we can get out of here. Minho won't admit it but I'm faster than he is."

"I want to be a Runner."

"Woah there Greenie. No one wants to be a Runner. And besides you have to be chosen."

"But I-"

"You heard her," Newt interrupted. "Now run along and go help Chuck get your hammock ready for tonight." The Greenie left without another word. "So, Zelda, how are you feeling?"

"Pretty good. Just a little bit sore. What happened to Ben?"

"He's locked up in the Slammer. We're going to banish him at sundown since he broke our number 1 rule."

"Oh." You didn't want Ben to get banished. It wasn't his fault that he got stung. But order was very important in the glade. "By the way, thanks for dragging my shank butt away from him. I'd probably be dead if you hadn't stepped in."

"Well I couldn't have you dying out there because then I couldn't do this." Before I knew what was happening Newt was kissing me. I felt fireworks exploding in my stomach. I'd liked Newt for a long time but I didn't think I could do anything about it.

I finally pulled back from lack of oxygen and smiled. "Now I'm really glad I didn't die."
