HI

"Why are you awake till now, hyungie?please rest..I know you have worked hard at the office." Taehyung requested. Even though his heart squeezed at the thought of the video being cut off, he didn’t want his husband to be worn out the next day.

"Sweetheart, just for sometime..let me see you.. let me have my breath back.." Jeongguk softly whispered, adjusting his phone on another pillow.

The elder was too tired to get his laptop from the couch and couldn't sleep without talking to taehyung also.

Taehyung gulped. Oh how much he wants to run back to those arms, fold them around himself..never going away.

Both the lovers kept their eye contact intact through the camera, eyes speaking volumes to each other.

"Did you eat?" Taehyung asked looking down. It was overwhelming to look at Jeongguk without getting a solid cry out of himself.

Before Jeongguk could reply, Yeontan, the puppy, all of a sudden woke up upon hearing Taehyung’s voice and barked.

"Tannie..my baby.." Taehyung touched the screen smiling fully.

Yeontan whinned seeing Taehyung inside the device and touched the screen with his small paws too , making Jeongguk’s phone tilt downwards.

The elder adjusted his phone once again sighing softly. And once again the small creature touched the screen with his paws.

This time, Jeongguk held his phone in his hands. Hands petting the small puppy, Jeongguk looked at the screen seeing Taehyung admiring his whole world.

"How was your day? Made friends?"

"It was good. Although, doctor said I need to work hard.."

"Don't push yourself too much." Jeongguk turned concerned.

"I'm fine hyungie. Don't worry....and you know I made few friends....we don't understand each other's language much but they are nice."

"Hmm. Bodyguards....they are doing their work well. Aren't they?"

Taehyung sighed hearing Jeongguk.

"Hyungie... They are always around me. Don't worry too much."

Taehyung wanted to say I'm more worried about you. You're overworking yourself. You're not getting enough sleep. You need to rest. But he couldn't.  He knows the elder won’t agree until or unless Taehyung’s physically present in front of him.

Jeongguk hummed in response, eyes softening at the sight of his delicate little sweetheart wrapped in a cardigan, hair slightly messy from the day.

“I don’t want anything happening to you,” he muttered, brushing Yeontan’s fur as the puppy settled down against his chest.

Taehyung chuckled softly, shaking his head.

“You’re such a dramatic husband sometimes.”

“I’m protective. There’s a difference,” Jeongguk replied with a small smirk. “You know how you’re my weakness.”

Taehyung’s lips trembled. He swallowed the lump in his throat, voice barely a whisper. “I miss you.”

“I know, baby,” Jeongguk’s voice dropped even softer, his eyes glistening faintly under the dim lamp light. “Every time I come home, it feels…hollow. Your slippers are still at the door. Your mug is in the cabinet. Tannie keeps sleeping by the door in the evenings.”

Taehyung looked away, biting his lower lip, trying to hold back tears.

There was a quiet pause. The kind that didn’t need filling. The kind that lovers knew was sacred.
