We scream as loud as we can and wave down the chopper. A huge spotlight shines over us. They see us!
I'm so happy and I cling to Ryder.

It's still pitch black and storming unfortunately but they see us. The chopper lowers alongside the buliding and the door slides open. We pack up our things and Claire goes in first, Joey second, Ryder third and I'm last. I make sure everyone gets in. A man helps Claire up into the helicopter.

I start to hear banging on the door. The window shatters and arms try to push through. Joey hops in second. They boards creak and begins to bend. 3 of the boards fall off. Ryder jumps in next. The door breaks as he jumps in. I am startled and freeze. The zombies are running towards me. I turn my head back to see them. As soon as I jerk my head one of them pushes me over. The chopper starts to fly away. I scream and I hear Ryder shouting my name.

I'm left behind. I have to fend for myself and make it to California myself. I try to talk to Ryder but I can't seem to reach him. I cry and the zombie falls on me. I struggle and realize I'm at the edge of the the roof. I set my foot under the creatures chest and push him outwards. He flies off the edge and I can hear a fowl sounding moan as it makes it way to the pavement thousands of feet below.

I quickly stand upright. There are too many. I sigh and look down from the hospital. I walk up to the edge and fall. The wind blows the hair out of my face and I descend. This is really cool actually, I dont want it to end.

I begin to see the ground get closer and I throw out a sheild around myself. I need to find a safe place until morning. I search and avoid many crowds of the horrid, cryptic humanoids, or what used to be human. It's terrifying and I have to move soundless to not attract any of them. It's a very difficult process but I manage to find a small furniture store.

I walk in the back door and I find the glass walls in front still intact, luckily. I lock the door behind me and make my way towards the front. I move tables and anything I could find towards the glass to barricade it. The lights are on still but also very dim.

After an hour or so I manage a awkward looking barricade along the glass walls. I nod at my work and lie my stuff beside a bed. I sigh and plop myself on a comfy mattress in the middle of the store because if zombies get through the front I can exit the back and vise versa for the back.

I lay there staring at the celeling and try to contain my tears. I look over at my watch that gives me the location of Ryder. My face lights up, maybe I have a chance of finding them. I raise my hand above my head at look at my watch, my heart drops. It's broken. The light is gray and there is a huge Crack on it.

The tears swell and I curse fowly. I cannot believe this. What special luck I have.

I try to calm myself by screaming into the pillow and pounding my fists on the bed. I'm basically throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler. How mature.

After pounding and sobbing for awhile I began to grow tired. I flip over and stare at the celeling. I breath in and out very slowly. I eventually soothe myself and doze off.

Some time later..

(Ryder's pov)

My face is held in my hands. I sob so much. I can't believe I lost Parry. I can't talk to her and my watch isn't working to find her loaction.

We've landed at a safe point in California, 2 hours away from Claire and Joey's parents work. They have put us in a long corridor and our room is on the immediate right.

I still sit on my cot thinking about her. She has still gotta be alive I mean there is a chance she made it. So many thoughts run through my head. What am I going to do? I wonder. I sigh profusely. I mumble to myself unknowing what to do.

Joey taps my shoulder and asks if I want breakfast. I shake my head 'no' and I hear him walk away. I did not sleep last night because I was so stresses out.

NO! I boom inside my head. I will not rest till I find her. She is my everything and I'm not going to wait until someone finds her. I will.

I plan tonight while everyone is sleeping, I will go to the cafeteria and grab some food and water. I will pack everything up and I will find her.

(Joey's pov)

For dinner I sit next to Claire and wait for someone to serve our meal, which is supposed be lasagna and cherry soda. Yum, delightful. So much better than eating stale and uncooked While

After people have started serving dinner Ryder walks in and slams the double doors. His eyes are filled with anger and his fists are clenched. I nudge Claire's shoulder and she notices Ryder's behavior. "Maybe it's because of Parry." I whisper. "Most likely I don't blame him." She replies while chowing down.

He sits down at a table in front of us and begins to eat. I ask if he is ok but he stares angrily at his food as he eats it.

He gets done quick and shoves the chair into the table and leaves. A few people stop and stare unsure what is going on. Some people are shocked and frozen at the abrupt, loud exit.

We finish up our dinner and head towards the corridors. I yawn and I'm ready to sleep. Claire and I walk in and Ryder seems to already be asleep in his bed. I hug Claire goodnight and we head to our respective cots. I run my fingers through my hair and sigh. I fell bad about Parry and how Ryder is taking it, but we are so close to finding my parents and I'm happy that Claire and I have gotten this far.

I toss and turn for awhile but eventually fall asleep.

"JOEY!" I hear my sister scream as she shakes me awake. "JOEY HE'S GONE" She shouts. I sit up and feel confused. I look over to Ryder's cot and realize he's gone. My face is pale and my heart sinks. "Oh no, he went to find Parry."
