"Why? Why did she feel like that?"
"I don't know, some people just can't take it Cassy."
I sighed. Avia, only 14 committed suicide. She was such a bright and happy girl. I don't understand. I guess I never will.
Scott took my hand, but I quickly pulled it away.
"This doesn't change anything, Scott. Just because my niece is dead, doesn't mean you can think you can come back waltzing your way back into my life thinking I need someone. I'll miss her. But I'm fine."
I turned around and looked down at my black high heels. I folded my arms, to show Scott I was serious.
"Look, Cassy. I know I've made some mistakes. Some pretty fucking big ones. But can't you give me another chance? At least some acknowledgement?"
I began to walk away, already flinching at the sound of his desperate voice.
"Baby, please. I-"
I turned around, and said-
"Don't call me that. I'm not your baby, or your 'Cassy' anymore. I'm through with you Scott. I'm done giving you chances."
And walked away.
