Kai had fallen asleep to the name of his sister rolling off his mate's tongue. It was already morning when his eyelids fluttered open. He gazed lovingly at Carver's sleeping form, his mind slowly whirring. Was there a correlation to their sister and Carver's true blood sister? Biting his bottom lip, he knew he would need to find out more about her from Carver before saying something. Giving his mate or his family false hope about their sister being alive, their daughter, was a type of torture in of itself. He would have to be careful and he would need to tell Tyler and Raven to see if they could find out anything either. If she wasn't, they still needed to find her. To tell her that the Dark Ice pack was also willing to accept her. That she didn't have to leave or feel alone or abandoned. But the memories or nightmares that had been plaguing her was alarming. Kai didn't know how long that had been going on for and why he, nor his brothers, ever noticed before.
He drooped at that, feeling like a terrible person for not noticing anything going on with his sister. Him and his wolf had been utterly distracted by their mate ever since finding him. And she didn't blame any of them for that. She just became sad. Maybe...
"Kai?" Carver's voice pitched low with sleep. Kai's eyes softened at his adorable alpha, kissing the tip of his nose. Carver's lips curled up in a sleepy smile, blue eyes opening to gaze at Kai softly.
"Good morning, my heart," Carver yawned, Kai snuggling close to his alpha. A large arm wrapping and tugging him closer, breathing in Carver's scent deeply.
"It's Sunday. We could go on a run together this morning and then have breakfast?" Carver asked, Kai blinking open his eyes again; having closed them in pleasure at Carver's scent soaking into him. Looking up at his mate in surprise, Kai couldn't help the shy smile that curled on his lips. With a slow nod, Carver practically bounced out of bed with excitement, Kai giggling at his silly wolfy.
Carver told him not to bother showering and that they could do so when they got back before breakfast. Kai was practically carried out to the back of the packhouse where some early morning risers were already milling about in their wolf forms. A few lifted their heads up at their presence, Carver nodding to them. Carver acted as his shield with his back to Kai, Kai feeling his cheeks flush as he hurriedly shed his clothing to put in the large baskets by the back door. He gently bit the hem of Carver's shirt, giving it a tug, Carver darting his eyes down before a full-blown smile spread across his features. Kai ducked his head, ears drawn back, peeking up at his mate with a small whine coming from him.
Carver knelt down, cupping Kai's cheek, feeling his thumb brush over his fur.
"You're breathtaking and so beautiful you nearly stopped my heart the first time I saw you," Carver said. Kai's ears perked at that, looking up at his mate in surprise. Carver chuckled at his reaction, the man quickly shucking off his own clothing. Kai soaked in his mate's gorgeous body in those brief seconds, heart pounding with need. A giant black wolf with blue eyes was suddenly standing before him, both of them feeling their wolves push for control. Golden eyes stared into icy blue.
Kai's tail wagged shyly, Carver lifting his chin, looking down at his mate. Shuffling a little closer, Kai licked underneath Carver's chin before rubbing his cheek against Carver's massive chest. A deep, pleased rumble echoed from him, Kai crooning in joy. Pulling back, Kai got onto his hind legs, tugging at Carver's ear who grunted. Hopping away, Kai barked in excitement before darting off. A booming bark followed in his wake, Kai yipping in joy at being chased. The two wove between trees within the forest, chasing and nipping and rolling through the underbrush. The grass was snow dusted, a warning of the coming winter.
Kai was panting heavily, having darted back to the pack grounds, yowling when Carver tackled him, the two rolling on the ground again. Kai was on his back, legs drawn in, licking the tip of Carver's muzzle. The huge black wolf rumbled low, nuzzling him. Their scents coiled together, both following their instincts to scent one another. Rubbing their bodies against each other. Carver lying partially over his little mate as they did so.
