"Jungkook," Yn called softly.

Jungkook’s steps halted as he ascended the stairs. He had already raised his voice at her in the office earlier; the last thing he wanted was to let his temper flare again. He needed to cool down. He needed space. But her voice—gentle and trembling—made him pause.M

"Let’s talk later, okay?" he said without turning around.

"Jungkook, you promised… you promised you’d always hear me out." Her voice cracked near the end, and that stopped him in his tracks.

He inhaled deeply, chest tightening with a swirl of guilt and frustration.

He slowly turned around and walked back to the living room, silently sitting on the edge of the sofa.

"Sit," he said quietly, pointing to the spot in front of him.

Yn sat, hands folded in her lap, head bowed.

"Speak," he said—calmly this time, the warmth in his voice returning.

"I’m sorry, Jungkook. I know what I did was wrong, and nothing I say can undo it. But… please, just forgive me this time. Please don’t be upset with me," she said, her voice trembling.

Jungkook reached for her hand, his thumb gently brushing over the redness on her palm. It was still warm.

His jaw clenched.

"I’m not angry at you, Yn," he said softly.

"I never could be. I’m just… I’m upset with myself."

She looked up, startled. "With yourself?"

He nodded. "I let you off today… something I’ve never done for any other student. And part of me kept questioning that decision—wondering if I was being fair. But then, when I saw Taehyung hit your palm so hard, I just… I hated myself more. I put you in that position."

"But it wasn’t your fault," she whispered.

"I gave the order, Yn. I run that classroom. Everything that happens there is on me." His voice was low, heavy with guilt.

She squeezed his hand gently. "I don't blame you."

He gave her a small, grateful smile.

"Still… it kills me to know I hurt you. Even if it was indirect."

There was a moment of silence before Jungkook asked,

"Did you really think I would punish you if you couldn’t answer the question?"

Yn nodded slowly.

"Y-yes… I mean, you were punishing the boys for whispering, so I thought…"

Jungkook exhaled with a faint smile.

"Yn, it was just a casual Q&A to assess understanding. I would never punish someone for not knowing the answer."

"But… those boys… you hit them really hard," she said hesitantly.

"They were disturbing the class," he replied flatly.

"They were just whispering—"

"During my class," he interrupted firmly.

"You weren’t even teaching at that moment," she said gently.
