Jungkook rushed into the kitchen, his hair messy and eyes wide with worry.
He had heard the loud sound and came running.
“Yn?” he called out.
She didn’t turn around.
Her hand was under the running water, and her shoulders were shaking as she tried to hold back tears.
Jungkook walked closer. “Yn, what happened?”
She shook her head.
“It’s nothing. Go back to sleep.”
But he didn’t listen.
He gently turned her to face him and saw her red, burned hand.
His eyes widened in shock.
“Why didn’t you wake me up? What were you doing here alone?” he asked, concerned.
“I didn’t want to disturb you,” she whispered.
“My legs were hurting from earlier, and I was trying to use hot water like before. But I couldn’t find the hot bag. I thought maybe a towel would work.”
Her voice cracked, and a tear slipped down her cheek.
Jungkook’s heart ached.
He helped her sit down on a stool and crouched in front of her.
“Let me see your hand.”
She hesitated, but then showed him.
She flinched as he touched her wrist gently.
“It’ll hurt a little,” he said gently.
He quickly got the first-aid kit and began treating her burn with care.
She watched him silently, noticing how serious and focused he looked.
“Jungkook…”
He looked up at her.
“I wasn’t trying to make you feel guilty earlier. I just wanted to say what I felt.”
“You were right,” he said quietly.
“I was unfair. I didn’t treat you and Lia the same, and that’s my mistake. I regret it. And now you got hurt because of the pain I caused you.”
“But I chose to do those exe—”
“I gave the punishment. I made you push yourself. And now, seeing you sneaking around at night, burned and in pain… it breaks me. This isn’t what I wanted”
His voice was low and filled with regret.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
Her eyes filled with tears again, but now because of the emotions, not the pain. She gently touched his cheek.
"I wanted you to treat me equally,not more not less"she said.
Jungkook closed his eyes for a moment.
“I understand now but No more punishments like that. You and Lia have already learned your lesson... and so have I.”
She nodded.
He carefully picked her up.
“Jungkook—my legs—”
