Jack's POV

I was so nervous. I felt so self-conscious about my body. I hated how I looked. I know that I am skinnier than some people and I knew that I shouldn't care how I looked, but I did.

I could sense that Alex was feeling self-conscious too. He was standing there awkwardly hiding his stomach with his arms.

We walked to the end of the small dock. I grabbed his hand and said, "Ready?"

He looked at me and nodded ever so slightly. "1.. 2.. 3!!!" I counted down to our jump.

Together, we jumped. We were holding hands, which may have been a good idea at the start, but we almost ripped each other's arms off.

We both came up, gasping for air. I looked at him and grinned like a fool. He was still getting his hair out if his eyes.

He looked up at me and began to speak. Before he could get out his first word, I leaned forward and kissed him softly.

When I pulled away, he blushed and looked away.

Alex laughed, and I joined in. I had to admit, I had never felt so alive.

Beautiful. That was the word that best described him. He was perfect to me. I knew he had his flaws, and I know I had flaws too. Being flawless was impossible. His flaws were unique; He was unique and that's what made him beautiful.

I always wondered how someone so broken could be so beautiful. It astounded me. I could never wrap my head around it.

The most beautiful thing that you will ever see is a person, once broken, smiling genuinely.

I want to make that smile appear upon Alex's face. I wanted to-

"Uh... Jack?" Alex said slowly.

Shit... I zoned out..

"Sorry... I was thinking.." I said.

"About what..?" He asked.

"You." I replied while staring into his eyes.

He blushed and looked away, yet again.

I placed my hands on his hips and quickly pecked his lips.

"Why are you so cute?" I asked.

"I'm not cute.." He mumbled.

"Yes you are," I said, splashing him playfully.

"Shut up." He said, splashing back and giggling.

"Make me." I said with a smug look on my face. I splashed him again and was surprised when his reply was, "Okay."

He smashed our lips together. I was taken by surprise, but I loved his confidence. We kissed until we absolutely needed a breath.

I rested my forehead against his. I looked into his eyes and smiled.

"I really do love you.. I hope you know..." I mumbled.

"I know," he whispered. A smile graced his face and I felt joy course through my body.

He looked up to the sky.

"What?" I asked.

"It's raining," he whispered.

"Do you wanna get out? It's getting dark," I wanted to stay with him forever.

"Yeah, sure." he mumbled.

We swam to the dock and pulled ourselves on top of it. I sat on the edge of the dock, my legs dangling in the water.

Alex stood up and stretched. When his hands returned to his sides I grabbed one and tugged on it.

"Sit with me?" I asked.

He sat down, still holding my hand. He rested his head on my shoulder. I turned my head slightly and kissed the top of his head.

We sat there for a few minutes. The rain switched from a light sprinkle, to a steady rain.

"Do you wanna come to my house? We can watch a movie or something?" I said, hoping he would come with me.

"Yeah, sure... That'd be fun..", he shrugged, smiling.

"Let's go, then.", I laughed lightly. We stood up and I wrapped my arm around his waist.

We grabbed our wet clothes and changed as fast as we could. I grabbed his hand and started toward my house.

•••

"So, what are we gonna watch?" He asked.

"I don't know, you're the guest, you pick," I said

"I don't know, it's your house." He said.

"But you're the guest." I pushed. "You should choose."

"I don't know what you have... I don't care what we watch.."

I laughed, then said; "Alright, I'll pick the movie. And it's gonna be... uh... um... " I didn't have any idea.
"This one!", I heard Alex yell.
I followed his gaze.

"The Perks of Being a Wallflower? Seriously?"

"Yeah." he said with a serious face.

"Okay." I smiled then shrugged. I went to the kitchen to see if I had popcorn. Shit. "We're out of popcorn!", I yelled from the kitchen.

"Shit," he answered.

"I know, right?" I yelled back and continued the search for acceptable movie food.

I found a bag of M&M's and walked back into the living room.

"Oooooh, M&M's.", Alex said, his eyes wide open. I laughed, "I knew you liked them."
Not that you always ate them when we were kids...
Alex smiled, as I started the movie.

I looked at his cute little smile and how he curled his legs up to the side and how he cuddled into me. I knew I was hopelessly in love with him, but I didn't care.
