"Hey kid you got adopted", the caretaker mumbled. "Pack you're stuff and go", he added, his voice low like always.

So there I was ten minutes later with a small bag of damaged clothes, about to start my new life.

"You're lucky someone wanted you, no one likes 16-years old", the caretaker spat at me, before opening a door.

There was a beautiful blonde woman with soft curls, her eyes where sharp like a knife, but the moment she saw me something shifted.

Not just the heavy air, also something in me.

Have I seen her before?

She stepped closer and offered me a soft smile.
"Hey Iam Taylor it's nice to meet you", she introduced herself, her voice was filled with confidence and more. Maybe Love?

"Iam Y/N", I murmured.

After the paperwork was done, the new woman named Taylor headed with me outside. I was nervous, what if I mess this up?

Taylor put my bag onto the backseats before turning to me. "Thank you for adopting me", I whispered, my voice was barely above a whisper, I wasn't even sure if she heard.

But she did.

A soft hand touched my shoulder, followed by a soft voice lulling me into warmth like a blanket. "The moment I saw your photo I fell in love. Not romantically, but I saw you and I knew 'this girl is special."

I dared to look into her ocean blue eyes. "C-can I hug you?" Without hesitation she pulled me into a hug, one hand slid onto my back while the other slid into my hair, pulling me closer.

"You don't have to ask, we're family now", she murmured.

On the ride home I fell asleep, it wasn't the light sleep I was used to, it was a sleep I haven't had in years, like all the weight was finally off my shoulders.

When I woke up I found myself lying on a couch, tugged into a blanket. "You're awake", Taylor murmured.

I blinked around to see Taylor right next to me. She had her hair in a messy bun, some of her hair strands fell into her face like little blonde waves.

"How'd you sleep?" She asked me. I turned around and looked at her. "Pretty good", I responded before getting up on one elbow.

"So it was pretty fast with the adoption and uhm, I haven't had the chance to get you, you're own room yet. But for tonight you can sleep in my bed, I'll take the couch. Tomorrow we can go shopping", Taylor explained, my eyes widened.

I couldn't let her sleep on the couch, she took me from the hell called orphanage, she should take her bed.

"No I can sleep here", I tried to protest but Taylor just chuckled. "It's okay Sweetheart I can take the couch."

Nervously I played with the hem of my sleep. She called me sweetheart, like I was her own child. Like she knew me for years.

"We could both take the bed", my head dropped low, was this to much? But I wanted to stay close to her. "If you're okay with that, I like staying close to you", she just said casually like it was nothing – but for me it meant the whole world.

"But now I want to show you, your new home."

Taylor showed me her house and it was big. And it was beautiful, it wasn't to big but it wasn't small either. It was the perfect size for us.

Later that evening, after a warm shower I was tugged into her bed, in her clothes. As I wanted to dress into my own clothes she said "they are old and outworn, they don't fit you", and then she handed me a shirt, some shorts and a fresh pair of pants.

Three month later

Taylor and I started to built a strong bound, she took me to the studio, to the coolest cafe's and restaurants, even on vacation. I was so grateful to have her, but something inside me started building.

Guilt.

How could I ever return my love towards her? She's doing so much for me.

I came home from school, with a new friend I had made, it was the first time I was bringing someone over. Taylor was excited all day, she send me pictures of her baking for me and my friend — Gracie —.

I was pretty sure there was a whole buffet for us ready. Taylor was excited about me bringing my first friend over.

We walked through the front door of the house. The odor of pancakes hung in the air, with a mixture of muffins and cookies.

"Hello girls", Taylor said, walking into the hallway to greet us. Gracie looked up, seemingly nervous about meeting the music industry.

"Gracie that's my Mom, Mom this is Gracie", Taylor gasped at my words, I've never called her Mom before, but I felt it, today was the right time to introduce her as my mom. Not someone who adopted me, but as someone, who loves me.

"It's really nice to meet you Ms. Swift", Gracie said a bit nervous, but Taylor just smiled and looked at her. "You don't have to be formal on me, Iam just Taylor. It's nice to meet you too", Taylor responded with a warm voice.

Then she turned to me, her eyes soft as ever. "I made pancakes, cookies and muffins for you", she said with a smile.

Twenty minutes later we were sitting on the table. Gracie was talking with Taylor about her career plans, Taylor was interested in helping Gracie with her career.

After a while the brown haired girl excused herself to use a bathroom so it was just me and Taylor.

"Was it... okay?", I started my voice low and silent as I met her eyes. "That I called you Mom?"

Taylors face softened and she grapped my face with both of her hands.

Then—

Her lips met my forehead, an unspoken promise for all the love she held for me.

"Darling, I loved it", she whispered.

Gracie returned and saw the moment I was having with Taylor. "Uhh Iam sorry I didn't want to-", she started, but Taylor cut her off with a soft laugh. "It's okay Gracie. I was thinking about going to the studio today, do you girls wanna join?"

---

After the studio Taylor drove Gracie home, so it was just me and Taylor at home now, she was laying in her bed watching some old rom-com.

I opened the door and looked at her. Taylor on the other hand took the remote to pause whatever she was watching. "Can we watch a movie together?"

Taylors face brightened up and she shifted slightly. "Come here Darling", she patted the place next to her.

I immediately crawled onto the bed, but instead of leaving some space I gave her a side spoon. "Everything okay? You're silent today", she murmured, before sinking more into the hug.

"Iam just tired", I tried to say but my trembling voice betrayed me as well as the tear which soaked into her shirt.

"Hey honey, tell me what's wrong, did I do something wrong?" She asked me with a concerned voice.

"It's just... you're giving me so much and I..  don't know how... how to return it", I whispered.

I expected judgement or something like this. But instead she laughed and pulled me closer into her arms, the warmth of the blanket wrapped around us.

"Oh Babygirl, it's simple, you don't have to do anything, beeing here with you makes me the most happiest woman in the world", she gave me a soft kiss on the forehead.

"Thank's mom", I whispered, before lulling deeper into her bed, forgetting the movie I wanted to watch, just focusing onto the warmth and love she was giving me.

"Always Sweet Girl", she murmured. And with that I drifted of to sleep, in her arms.
