Scar: The Story You Never Knew

Chapter 2: The Early Years

Mufasa and Taka grew into healthy, energetic, playful, young cubs. The two brothers were the best of friends, and spent their days romping on the grasslands, exploring, or playing with their friends, Sarabi, Sarafina, and Zira.

Sarabi had golden fur and blue eyes. She was an energetic young lioness, who had taken a liking to Mufasa. Taka and the others often teased them when they hung out together, saying that they were a couple. Sarafina was Sarabi's best friend. She had light yellow, almost white fur. She was the most beautiful, at least that's what Taka thought. He may have teased his brother about his liking for Sarabi, but he secretly had a liking for Sarafina.

Last was Zira, a shy lioness with grayish brown fur. She was the tomboy of the group, but often felt like the outcast of the group. She hardly talked, and often walked behind. But she had a secret like for Taka, and wished he would notice her.

Sarafina never knew Taka liked her, and Taka never knew Zira liked him. To them, they, Mufasa, and Taka were just all good friends.

When they weren't playing with the girls, their father took them around the Pridelands, teaching them about how to rule as a good king, by explaining the connection to all living things, the circle of life. Then, when the sun fell, Ahadi would take the cubs to the top of Pride Rock to look at the stars.

"The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars." Said Ahadi. "So whenever you feel alone, they will be there to guide you, and so will I."
