Chapter 9: A Heart Turned Black

Mufasa and Taka grew into teenagers. Their manes were almost in now. Taka continued to go in secret to the elephant graveyard and hang out with the hyenas. Mufasa was finding a new love interest with Sarabi, and Ahadi had said that they were to be married.

Taka still felt forgotten. At this point, Mufasa had gained a better understanding of what it meant to be a good king. So he was constantly around, helping out the subjects, learning from Rafiki, and out looking at the stars with Ahadi, as his father told him stories of the kings of the past.

Taka's heart stayed dark. His mother tried to convince him that his father still loved him, but he wouldn't listen. He was bent on revenge on Mufasa for telling on him. And he hated his father. Taka's heart of gold had turned black.

Taka never wanted to play with his brother and friends anymore. He stayed mostly to himself. Even his mother couldn't snap him out of this.

Then one day, Taka came up with a sinister idea.
